This light is almost everything you want in a speedlight. It's easy and quick to change settings, acurate, and great TTL. I bought it for the Autofocus Assistant feature but it lacked one feature that I needed. When you turn ON the the Autofocus Assistant beam (always ON) the beam does not extinguish when the shutter is actuated, therfore the beam is seen in the photo. I shoot original art and cultural heritage art and need the beam for focus in low contrast situations...not low light.

I know that Profoto is often criticized for being overpriced, but this flash is absolutely worth it. Not only is it incredibly easy to use, but the ultra small profile flash connect that mounts onto the camera saves a ton of space in my bag, making the entire unit much easier for transport. The quality of the flash is readily appreciated, and I find the light to be extremely consistent over multiple shots. The modifiers are also very useful and create soft, pleasing light. I enjoy patronizing a company that makes high-quality products. If you don’t have the budget for this flash, I completely understand; get the tool you need that you can afford. But if some day you’d like to treat yourself to a great flash, spring for this. I bought it used and the quality was great for a discounted price.

I owned a A1 since the time it was opened for pre-order. After many years of use on locartion shooting, I was very happy with the powerful competence and beautiful light shaping. When I decided to add a new off-camera flash light in my backpack, A1X is eventually my first choice. Specifically, the A1X has a more powerful internal battery that gets 450 full power flashes per charge compared to the 350 of the A1. It also features a 1 second recycling time that faster than my old A1. With my Nikon D6, the A1X can do a 14 frames per second shoot in succession with perfect lighting consistency, while another brand was struggling to produce the same consistency from the 3rd or 4th shot onwards. I am very happy to have A1X in my Profoto flashs' family. I highly recommend A1X for every photograpfer.

I so much wanted to love this Flash but it is outright not compatible with the Nikon Z6 II or Z7II. I was told by tech support to check back in 4-6 months. The white balance is way off and the Auto ISO does not function correctly. I tried other flashes ie SB5000 and Godox on the same bodies, and they performed as expected. I was also told the triggers would not work either on the new Nikons.

The best speedlite ever created worth every penny however I wish the remote TTL would cost less but I highly recommend anyone who can afford this to definitely go ahead and get this wonderful speedlite

I been using other popular brands in the past 7 years for events and weddings. Many issues with those brands such as overheat, recycle time, inconsistent light color, etc. So fard I sed this for a few weddings and events, No single issues. Ordered 3 more. From now on I have Profoto lights on top of my Nikon D80 and other cameras. I the bounce card came with this light not very good. it falls off few times. Battery life is not much good either. But that can be managed. I am not worrked on battery power.

Great flash. Combines speedlight and studio light in one. Build quality is superb. Magnet filter attachment is very convenient too. Air TTL transmitter is very simple to use.

So far a fantastic flash. Used it extensively in and off camera, hand held and on stands. The flash is built like a tank. The profoto app is Perfect for controlling flash power settings and always works. Very happy and may even pick up 1 or 2 more for travel.

I consider myself a part time professional photographer. I do a few weddings and portraits, family and landscaping. I have always wanted an easy to use comprehensive flash system and this is it. I'll start off by saying that I do not care for Sony's flashes. They seem less than durable. I've had issues with 2 of them. I also feel that the mount as well as the construction is average to poor. So I decided to jump into profoto, and I have not looked back. The flash is easy to use, durable and easy to adjust to your lighting needs. I also use the connect. When I was a Canon user I was using 3 flashes, 2 were slaves and the one on the camera was the master. With connect, I can move the flash around to different locations, or continuous lighting. I may pick up a 2nd profoto flash or maybe the b10 and the majority of all of my needs will be totally covered. If you are not a photographer with a studio but want great lighting, I recommend this setup.

I started using the A1 system with a canon camera, however since November 2018, I switched to Sony system and have been waiting to use the A1 as an on camera flash and so far I’m satisfied with the Unit. The battery life has improved a lot. And the quality has always been to great.

this flash is awesome, and it was definitely worth the wait. I only deducted one star, since this being a new flash, several functions did not work out of the box, not due to a bad flash. Getting HSS (high speed sync) to work , required upgrading the A7R2 firmware to version 4.1. Since out of the box, the HSS and other functions were not available. after the update, it works perfect. now, if we could only get a more "sphere" looking dome for the flash, that would be near perfect.

I have 2 ProFoto A1s and can't wait to get the A1x. I like using this flash better than the Nikon speedlights (I have 4 of them). Of course, I have the studio strobes from ProFoto too so I can use the same remote trigger for everything and use them together so I guess I am biased. While I think the new connect may be a bit over the top, after watching the video of a photographer using it with the A1x off camera when doing street portraits I think I can find a real use for it so will probably get it. I am a confirmed ProFoto user - yes, they are pricy and probably even overpriced but the quality and ease of use make it worth it.
