It will go dead just when you really need it. Have used this twice, and twice it failed. I do think that if the price point is attractive you, purchase the battery grip for your camera and purchase two of the batterys, it may work in a satisfactory manner. I will add that proper battery care will pay dividend. such as taking them out of the camera when not is use, use the same brand of battery if two are required in the grip and during cold weather, expect power fall off, so you need to find some whay to keep the batteries warmEDWIN E : Yes. I got two for use in a vert. grip (two required) simply for a balance of amperage. Works great. Easily holds charge for full days shoot. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Good for a couple of years

I had one of these batteries before. It was good and worked just as well as Canon's battery for about 2-3 years before quickly fading out. So, it did not last nearly as long as Canon's battery but given the price it was worth it. I just bought another one and it charged and is delivering performance like a Canon BP-511a. I'll see how long this one lasts.

I would buy this again!

I use this battery in my DSLR for general photography and astrophotography. I kept going back and forth as to whether on not I should get another Canon battery or this replacement. After a year of use I can honestly say that I cannot tell the difference between my new Canon battery and this replacement. This battery is the real deal!

THIS BATTERY IS UTTER K.R.A.P!

Bought this battery and used it about 10 times. It no longer holds a charge... not even enough to take a single picture. It was bought about 8 months ago and it no longer works. Pure garbage (the Power2000 brand).

Last as long as Canon brand, work great

I use these batteries interchangeably with the canon batteries that came with my cameras. I find them to last just as long, recharge just as quickly and work exactly like the canon batteries. I purchased 4 in 2007 and 2 in 2009. Of the 4 from 2007, 2 have failed- but so have 2 of my canon batteries of similar age. I shoot high numbers of shots at a time- usually reunions, weddings or other gatherings. I usually have to change camera batteries twice in a shoot, unless its cold. These batteries work just as well as the Canon brand and at half the price. Don't be like the wedding photographer I saw in Dallas, TX, that had to ask me (a guest) to shoot the toast because she didn't have a spare camera battery!

Doesn't hold a charge

I bought this battery as a back-up for my canon 5d while shooting weddings and portraits. It only holds a charge for about 30-45 minutes which is obviously not convenient. It holds about enough charge for my Canon battery to charge about halfway. Going back to Canon brand.

Disappointingly short life

I bought four of these batteries when I first purchased my used Canon 5D Mark I. Every single one of them has failed prematurely, some within a month or two, others within two years. None has received more than sporadic use, so this is extremely disappointing. [...]I don't have time to mess around with the premature failures any more. After this experience, I will probably pay the extra money and buy the Canon batteries.
