After wasting money on some aftermarket non-Canon, weird-named BP-828's from that store named after a river, I'd given up on alternatives. They were awful. Now, after 8 years of use, some of my Canon originals are losing their upper capacity (yielding about 177 minutes of record time following a full charge) I came over here to Adorama for replacements, and ran into the multiple 5-star reviews for the Power2000's. "Well, what the heck," I thought, "I'll risk less than $40 to see what all the fuss is about." Wow! Getting 270+ minutes of record time. These are maybe even better than the OEM Canon's. I've got three of the Power2000's BP-828's now, and likely will get more. No wonder they're frequently sold out. Add my 5 stars to the others.

After pricing the official options from Canon for my HF G40, I decided it was worth a gamble on this battery. It's a perfect mechanical fit, it's well made, the camera seems happy with it and it runs the camera for hours. If I had a complaint it's that it's rather large and cumbersome but I suspect that any battery of this capacity would be the same size. It doesn't interfere terribly with using the eyepiece (just a little). That's a more than reasonable compromise and i'd buy more of these for sure. I probably will. Definitely recommended.

I take video's of band's and this battery lasts me about 4 hours.I have 2 and never have to worry about not having power for my camcorder

This is the second 'set of two' of these batteries we have purchased. But don't panic, we're not replacing the ones we bought in 2014 - - they've been used plenty and are still going strong. We bought another two for our son who acquired the same model Canon G30/40 video camera as we have. So we both have two "Big" batteries and the camera supplied "Small" battery. We painted numbers on the batteries and rotate them. We have enough battery power to go for days . . . certainly enough to allow recharging of the 'depleted' ones. We did discover an anomaly with the Canon CG-800 120v battery charger. While this charger charges the "Small" battery normally, we find that the "Big" battery starts charging (amber light comes on) but some hours later, the amber light goes out, but the green light doesn't appear. We have no idea the real state of charge of the battery at this point - - we've never tested. We discovered a work around, we merely unplug and replug the charger. The amber light again lights but, this time, and hour or more later, it is replaced by the green light. In short, we use a two-step charge routine with this battery/charger combination.
