I think this is going to work very well. I am a longtime Mac user and have something over 350,000 photos stored from my trips around the globe. I also have a WD NAS that is connected to my router and provides backup for all of my computers, iPads and iPhones. The Pegasus has a great reputation. It sits on my desktop in order to minimizes the length of the thunderbolt cable. It is a bit noisy next to the computer.
