This wallplate is engineered to connect line or speaker-level outputs from a variety of devices, including movie projectors, audio and video tape/cassette recorders, and phonographs, to the microphone inputs of house P.A. systems. It offers a broad frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz, ensuring it can handle a wide range of audio signals with minimal distortion.

The AVP1 features a 1/4" phone jack input, ideal for movie projectors and similar monaural A/V equipment. This input is designed to safely connect to the speaker outputs of older tube-type equipment, with a 16-ohms, 5-watt load resistor simulating the speaker impedance to prevent damage to the amplifier output stage. A high-frequency filter is also included to reduce hiss from noisy electronics.

For added convenience, the AVP1 includes left and right RCA phono jack line inputs, which are resistively mixed to monaural. This feature is particularly useful when used with CD players and cassette recorders. The DBT-1 transformer provides a floating 150-ohm output to an easy-to-use screw-type barrier strip, simplifying the wiring installation process.

The AVP1 also includes a Hum Cable switch to eliminate hum and buzz from AC ground loops between equipment. An independent low-impedance microphone input via a female XLR-type connector wired to the output barrier strip adds to the versatility of this wallplate.
