Company stands behind their products.

I had an issue with condensation getting between the lens when I was doing some night photography on Mt. Rainier...know what "dew point" refers to. The filter was way out of warranty but they asked me to ship it to thenm and they returned it with cleaned. It probably helps not to be demanding of much but they really went out of their way.

good value but the tiffen produces sharper images

got this and compared to the equivalent 77mm Tiffen variable ND filter and though the images are good through the pro optic they weren't as sharp as through the Tiffen- but you pay more for the Tiffen- but worth it to me- had no problem with my camera's auto focus with both the pro optic and tiffen on my Panasonic GX8- the Tiffen was actually the 3rd variable ND filter I tested- the first was the most expensive of all Cokin variable ND filter but ironically as the most expensive Cokin variable ND filter was unusable- even in manual focus it distorted the image and could not get a sharp image at all

Non-planar distortions

The filter is variable all right. When I look through it and move it there are distortions noticeable in anything with a lined pattern. Apparently not very planar. I'll be returning it.

Not working well

It's sharp enough, it feels sturdy and well built, however I get a brown streak across the center of the image with this filter. I suppose it's a manufacturing defect or perhaps just bad glass? Anyways I recommend a better quality ND filter...

A very good buy

I use the product on my camera lense to tone down the sky in the scene.

Performs its function admirably

I use this to get the milky effect in water and it perfoms fantastically. as well as ND filters that cost 4-5 times as much

Pro Optic 77mm Variable HD Filter

This filter had been previously ordered by me and came in a case that wouldn't close. The filter itself was fine - as is the replacement. The quality of the glass seems to be very good, and the price is more than fair.

Great Value, works well.

I have found the Pro Optic 72mm Variable HD ND Filter, ND2 to ND400 to be a very good investment that has added to my ability to get those really good landscape and nature shots. The price was certainly right and the Pro Optic meets all my cuurent needs and expectations. The only negative comment is that upon receipt the besel ring and thus the outer lens were very loose. I tightened it but was somewhat disappointed at the lack of QA on the item.

Pro Optic 77mm Variable HD ND Filter,

This is an excellent filter to use to capture those scenes that you wpuld like to show motion or soften a cascading waterfall. It is extremely easy to use and you cannot beat the price. Singh-Ray's is about $400 compared to [$] for this.

Get what you pay for

Bought this to do some long exposures in daylight. Thought I'd take a chance on a lower priced unit but was disappointed in the results. Ok at lower levels of filtering but once you move past the mid point white starts heading to blue

ProOptic 82mm Variable Neutral Density (ND) Filter, 2 to 8 Stops

By ALEXIS O.

Perfect for any outdoor footage!

The ProOptic 77mm Variable Neutral Density Filter benefits all types of imaging devices with lenses, whether analog film cameras or digital SLRs to continuously control the amount of light coming through the glass, in an approximate range of ND2 (ND 0.6) to ND8 (ND 2.4) stops, maintaining the integrity of the image. The ProOptic VND quickly counteracts lighting conditions that would otherwise force a photographer to abandon the use of high ISOs or preferred wider apertures in bright outdoor conditions. Run-and-gun videographers and location photographers revel in this small and lightweight solution over more cumbersome accessories like matte boxes with delicate ND filter gels.

The ND, or neutral density filter, reduces the intensity of all visible light wavelength equally without influencing the color balance, fidelity, and sharpness. VND, or variable neutral density, grants the user power over the degree of ND effect by rotating the front glass element. The two layers of polarized material interact to limit rays by as much as eight stops of light, 0.39% of the full exposure, to ND 2.4. Selectively reducing the amount of light, lowers the exposure enough to record the illusion of movement in subjects such as streaking runners, rushing waters, billowing clouds, and special effects at night like car light trails, where they typically would be frozen in time. Another benefit is aperture control to allow a wider value, resulting in a narrow range of focus, helping separate subjects from their background. Wide-open apertures are known for gorgeous Bokeh and distinct soft blur aura.

The ProOptic 77mm Variable Neutral Density (VND) Filter places the choice in your hands.

ProOptic Variable ND Filter Features

  • Continuously control ND range from ND2 (ND 0.6) to ND8 (ND 2.4) stops
  • Multi-coated all-glass optics in silky smooth calibrated ring
  • Overcomes overexposure with high ISOs
  • Perfect for motion blur longer exposures
  • Enjoy gorgeous Bokeh, distinct soft blur backgrounds and selective focus
