Questions & Answers

RUSSELL H : how does the string in the picture attach to the lens cap?MOLLY J : There is a small hole in the side of the cap that you put the string through.W. M : There is a small hole that you pass a loop through, then pass the remainder of the string through the that loop. I am sure you can't see it on this photo.ACCOUNTS P : There is a small hole on the side of the cap that you can loop the leash through. then you can loop the long end through the camera strap post on the body of the camera. It's a VERY small hole, so you might need the end of a paperclip to get the leash through... however, once you loop it in, it's good to go!Eric P : Good question. I don't use the string "lens cap keeper" myself, because I don't like stuff dangling from my camera when I'm using it. The cap keeper is a really good idea for many people, though. It's hard to see in the picture, but there is a tiny hole at the seven o'clock position inside the rim of the lens cap. That's where the string attaches. Take the short loop of string (at the top in the picture) and push it up through that hole, then draw it up through the bigger loop (at the bottom of the picture) to make a knot called a "lark's head" or "cow hitch." That will hold the string to the lens cap. Don't give up if you have trouble getting the string through the hole--try wetting the string with saliva and pinching or twisting it into a point, then try again. Once you have the string attached, move the slider up and down to adjust the string to your liking. The next step is to attach the string and lens cap to your camera. Some camera bodies have tiny holes, loops or bars for that very purpose. If yours doesn't, you can attach the string to the metal "D" or "O" ring that connects your camera to your strap. Poke the big end of the string through the attachment point and pull it through until you have a fairly large loop, then push the lens cap through that loop. Pull everything tight. That makes another lark's head hitch and you're good to go. One piece of advice: attach the lens cap to the side of your camera with the fewest controls--probably the left side. That way, the string and the lens cap will not interfere as much when you're operating your camera. Have fun!

I am a big believer in lens caps. According to available data, the interior diameter of the lens hood is 53mm, so a pinch lens cap of this type should work and be more accessible than the lens cap which comes with the kit lens.KRISTINA M : I needed a replacement lens cap, and had had a good experience with ProOptic products in the past, including another lens cap.WILLIAM H : reasonable price; center pinchVERNEITTA F : I needed a new lens, and I like the pinch lens, no screwing it on, just pinch it.JONATHAN D : price pointMARY R : Because of reviews.CLIFF L : Availability and PriceWILLIAM T : lens protectionTOM K : I like the one I already haveDavid J : Protection and access.Eugene C : ProtectionJason L : Need a lens cap for an oversized metal lens hoodROBERT D : Extra lens cap for travel

The Best Lens Caps at a Great Price

These are the best lens caps- they don't fall off. Adorama's prices are a fraction of those at my local camera shop.

Great Replacements!

These are great lens caps. I purchase them to replace the lens caps that come with Sony lenses. The punch front Sony caps tend to break after while but these don't.

Incredible value

Surprised at how strong the springs are holding the cap on. Far stronger than the factory lens cap that popped off all the time, even in my camera bag until it became lost. This lens cap has made several shoots now without one pop-off!

Just a filter

Not much to report, its just filter that I use to keep dust off the lens surface.

Bargain buy gets that lens covered.

Yep its a good lens cap but does not equal oem from camera companies or lens manufacturers but it does exactly what it should. just not as finely made.

Front Lens Cap

The simple pinch front lens caps were just as I expected from the Adorama internet site. Adorama shipped and delivered them promptly and intact. The cap is quick on - and - off and seems sturdy enough for my use.

It does the job

Not as fancy as the original one, but for the price it does the job. It fits correct without any lose from the lens. Recommended if you don't care about having the brand there

a spare

Fits well, and services it purpose. I happen to be someone who seems to always misplace lens caps. It is wise to have a spare like this one handy

review of pinch lens cap

I used the online chat feature because I needed a replacement lens cap and wasn't sure of the size that I needed for my camera. Person who helped me determined the size (told her what my particular model my camera was )and then gave me several choices. I picked one but when I rec'd it, it did not fit my camera. It is too large.

Exact replacement for the 52mm Canon lens cap

A good 3rd party replacement for the lens cap which ships with the Canon M50 Mk ii kit lens. I purchased this item due to being worried that the Canon lens cap would not work with the Canon lens hood. It turns out that both lens caps work with the Canon lens hood, so I have a spare.

Functional basic lens cap

I have not had this long enough to evaluate the durability of the springs over time but the cap fits well and works as it should. The edges are crisp, not rounded/softened, some may find that uncomfortable. Overall it seems reasonable for the price. There is just enough room for a lens tether in the center if that is desired.

A brand new cap for a 45 year old lens

My recent reentry into 35mm film photography has led me to purchasing vintage lenses, most of which arrived with either broken or missing original lens caps. Another reviewer bemoaned the high cost of original replacements and was more than happy with these $4.50 caps. So am I. It's pretty much a no brainer to protect the front (and rear) element of any lens, but older lenses are even more vulnerable to nicks, scratches and dust, beyond the fact that some are tough to locate in nice shape. This 72mm ProOptic Center Pinch Lens Cap is nicer than the original that came on my Sony 16-50mm lens, and the 55mm I purchased for another old Minolta lens is just as good. So far I've been fortunate that the lenses I've received are largely mark free even after three or four decades of previous ownership. These lens caps should help ensure that their present owner keep them that way.

Just a lens cap? Still important to protect an expensive lens. This product goes on easily, stays on (more importantly) and comes off easily. What more could I want

Lens Cap Review ... Seriously?

By VERN W.

Can't believe I'm writing a review of a lens cap, but it's definitely necessary. Just wish I could write this as a generic review for all sizes of this cap so people would be more aware. This is by far the best lens cap I have ever had, quite a surprise considering it's the cheapest by far. I have mostly Nikon and Sigma lenses but I have also tried Tamron lens caps. None are as well designed as this one. Cap fits much better than others of the same size in my Sigma 10-20mm lens. Center ...

This cap features a front pinch style lens attachment, that does not protrude beyond the cap's diameter, rather than the snap-on outside grip style. The center pinch type is therefore much easier to attach and detach when a lens hood is mounted.
