Before plastic edge pinch or center pinch lens caps there were metal screw on lens caps. Plastic caps are ten times easier to use but can break. I have a couple of original plastic Minolta caps that have broken pinch rings so I superglued the broken pieces together to make them basically screw ons. These ProOptic metal screw on lens caps are practically miniature manhole covers, and will probably be the only identifiable objects remaining after the planet disintegrates.. It does take a few turns to put on and remove, but I wanted to at least give it a try.

Not easy to put on or take off. If you have good hands they are OK, if you have a pair of aged mits I wouldn't buy these.

Metal cap with a nice vintage look. It has heft and appears to be of good quality. The only downside is that it takes quite a few spins to remove it from the front of the lens. But, I anticipated that and is very secure this way.

Love this all metal cap. Comes with a top that can be used to protect the front element of a lens or filter. It also comes with a metal bottom that a filter can screw onto to protect the back of the filter s well. Perfect for lens or filter storage.

Stays on in the gear bag.....the only draw back is you need to keep the other half in your pocket or in the gear bag.

I got this as a protector cap for my Pentax Digital Spot meter. I tried several brands in the past; although described as 40.5mm none fit. I think it probably had to do with the screw pitch, and not the size as such. I was using a snap on cap, but it was bulky and I kept knocking it off. Anyway, I saw this offered on E-Bay through Adorama the price was right. All I can say it fits. I was impressed in that it came with it's own thread protector (metal). I'll likely get another or two as a back up.

Way more peace of mind than opening your camera bag and finding that the front cap popped off, especially if you shoot without a front filter. Stays on during rough handling so one less thing to think about.

This lens cap is perfect because it has a tiny little over hang that allows you to only screw off the lens cover and not the lens filter! Well thought out excellent!

This 82mm aluminum lens cap fits and does the job. However, the cap pictured (with silver edges and center circle) is not the design I received. The one I got is all black, and therefore doesn't match the several others that I have. Small issue, granted, but irritating nonetheless. Also, you'll note that there are two pieces, the cap and a female-threaded rear cap, i.e. this is actually a filter "stack-cap" set made to cap front-and-rear a number of screwed-together filters for storage. Just sayin'.

Clip on plastic ones are cheap, this is not. Add a magnetic system to it and you get the best of both worlds.

Bought a total of four of these caps in two sizes. The knurling on them is very fine, only on the edge, and the caps are thin. The combination makes them hard to hold on to when attaching or removing. I like caps with a little coarser knurling that extends slightly onto the front edge. I won't be buying any more of these.

I bought this for an old manual focus lens and it looks and goes on perfectly. The price was right too!

These make your camera into a tank. If that's what you want then buy one or five. So nice to be able to throw the camera in a backpack and not have to worry about an OEM piece of junk lens cap falling off the second it gets jostled in the slightest way.

This is a great little cap. I use it when I'm traveling with my lens and want something that will stay on. The threads keep it in place and it works well.

Have had too many lens caps fall off, especially when they get older. These screw in and provide added security.

I love the precision of the machining on these screw-in lens caps. For some reason, they come threaded into an equally precisely-made base that seems to serve no other purpose other than to absolutely protect the threads during shippng and / or storage. I don't know what to do with it once the cap is on a lens. A marvel of industrial design and production. And cheap to own.

Stays on. Does not easily fall off like a plastic snap type although it takes a bit longer to remove.

The snap on lens cap on my Nikon P7800 kept coming off when I put it in a pocket or took it out of a pocket. The screw on cap screws on and off easily and stays on.

I am one of those photographers who always loses her lens cap. I put on a ND filter on my camera, but when you travel around, a lens cap is useful. I don't need a lens cap to advertise my camera or my lens. I need a lens cap to protect my lens. So I want a steady, strong, inexpensive lens cap. The Adorama metal caps fit the bill. Maybe I should just two or three at a time.

These are nice. I've bought them before and may buy more. I'm tired of sloppy fitting plastic caps that sometimes fall off. If you buy the Pro-Optic metal lens hoods which thread on to your lens, then you can't also attach these (or any) cap to the lens. The solution is to attach these to the end of the lens hood, which is also threaded. You just have to buy the right sized cap. In my case, my Fuji 56mm f/1.2 lens has 62mm thread. I bought the 62mm hood, which has 67mm threads on the non-lens end. So I bought a 67mm cap to screw onto the end of the hood. This works real well.
