I do a lot of reverse lens macro photography using enlargrer lenses. Of course I end up with an M39 exposed rear or the lens with male threads. There have been many occasions I could have benefited from a lens hood. Unfortunately, a39mm hood with female threads is non-existent, at least for me. So, I orderrd this hood along with a M39 rear lens cap. I removed the end of the rear lens cap, screwed in the hood using some adhesive and whalla, I had a removable hood for the exposed rear of my reversed M39 enlarger lenses. I couldn't be happier and the set up works really well as this hood was specifically designed for this size lens to begin with. I highly recommend this for any others using enlarger lenses and these techniques.

Lens hoods guard against uncontrolled, stray light and unwanted reflections which result in reduced contrast and possible "ghost Images". In general, the use of a lens hood is recommended because better contrast improves the appearance of the photograph. This accessory also offers protection for the front lens element against rain and mechanical damage.
Rubber Lens Hood are made out of a high quality matte black rubber. It folds down and protects against contrast - reducing, uncontrolled, stray light.
