It helps protect the lens from bumps and seems to help with glare.

Much sturdier than many of the cheaper ones you will find on Amazon and other places. Fit with no issues. Planning on buying again in a different size.

I bought 3 of these to use on my 3 Mamiya RB67 PRO S cameras for the eyepiece hoods. With a little modification they worked out perfectly. Took out the metal ring and trim off the leading rubber edge and stretched it on. You can't buy a replacement rubber for this eyepiece anymore so this worked out perfectly and looks good as well.

The main reason I got this was to protect the lens from getting banged up whlie walking outside. I also like that I can easily deploy/retract quickly.

works as intended for one of my lenses that does not have a lens hood. Once in my bag, it also helps to protect the lens, I believe, because it buffers impact from rough handling of the bag.

It threads onto the lens easily and collapses to fit into my bag which is why I got it, the factory hood doesn't fit my bag.

This is a good quality hood, I like the rubber style because it helps to protect the lens in my case or wherever the camera happens to be. Some of these hoods can get pricey, why that is I do not know but this one fits the bill well for what I need.

Excellent lens hood. Just the right size. The rubber shade does not rip off the metal ring when you put it in a pouch and pull it out--a major convenience!

Seems to be well made. I am using it on Micro 4/3 rds and it does not vignet the frame.

These are very nice. I bought two-one for my 50mm lens and one for my 18-55mm lens. There is obstruction when the 18-55mm is wide open, but at 24-55mm there is no obstruction. Not a problem for me-I just collapse the hood to shoot at the very wide focal lengths.

No problem bumping into the next shooter in a crowd - its rubber and collapses.

I use this on a Nikon 105mm 2.8G VR, not so much as a hood, but folded back onto the lens as a rubber bumper for the end of the lens. In that configuration, it looks like it came that way with the lens, as the rubber when folded back on to the lens is the perfect diameter for a semi-snug fit, overlapping the end of the huge focus ring just enough that the "bumper" doesn't flop around. In its role as a bumper, this hood works great when you need to set the camera down, as the lens rests on the rubber instead of the lens itself. Of course, this will not work if you have on the HUGE hood that comes with the lens. I always have one or the other on the 105mm VR to protect the business end of the lens.

Works well. I like that it's made of rubber so it makes it more useful than hard plastic.

I bought this for an Olympus lens that didn't come with a hood, the 30mm macro. This does the job and folds away nicely for storage.

… it has been my experience the rubber lens hoods dry, up, crack, & become dysfunctional after several years. They are inexpensive, so it should not be a serious problem. I think the convenience of the folding hood can offset the moderate life. Rubber hoods tend to be on the "wide" side, which might be a major factor on a wide angle or zoom lens. A "Regular" metal hood might give you better shading on a normal or telephoto lens.

Great product at low low price. Does what it's supposed to and also protects the lens front from mild accidental bumps.

I got this to cut the reflections/stray light when shooting through glass. We see the hood at focal lengths below about 35mm, but above that is fine.

Lens hoods guard against uncontrolled, stray light and unwanted reflections which result in reduced contrast and possible "ghost Images". In general, the use of a lens hood is recommended because better contrast improves the appearance of the photograph. This accessory also offers protection for the front lens element against rain and mechanical damage.
Rubber Lens Hood are made out of a high quality matte black rubber. It folds down and protects against contrast - reducing, uncontrolled, stray light.
