PierreYves L : Are those ok for outdoor use? Protected from rain but outdoorHector O : not only for inside of house or office .AARON S : Yes, I use mine outside but I don't leave them out. I've been storing them in the garage and they've worked great the year+ I've had them.JOSE M. R : There are indoors speakers. Even if you protect them from rain you will have to contest with humidity.
Shopper : I noticed its a 1/4 inch sub out....is that a standard size?? I thought a sub cable is smaller than that.Eckles N : Also comes with a 1/4 inch to RCA converter plug. Yes 1/4 plugs are a venerable standard in the recording industry.

Intermittent high pitch noise from tweeter

Lemon.ish... Bought it from adorama 2 years ago. Recently developed a problem where a high pitch noise comes from the tweeter (top small speaker). Sounds like the dentist drilling... Happens both on wired and bluetooth connections. Current solution is to turn the unit off wait and hope goes away. PreSonus is asking more than half of what I paid to service it. I'm not happy at all. They must be happy that the thing works only during the warranty and fails shortly after. Besides, the sound quality is good to my average ears, standby is thing is annoying. Bluetooth connectivity is hit and miss. I would say buy something else.

Really nice sounding speakers

Great sound and pairs easily with bluetooth and my Iphone. Self powered so no preamp or amplifier required, only one wire to a wall outlet and cable to tie the two speakers together. I have to say again what nice soud these speakers have and they have enough power to fill a normal size living room with plenty of volume if needed.

Great Sound, solid value

These speakers sound great. The mids and highs are crisp and clean. The lows are decent. A sub could help. The Bluetooth connectivity is very useful. Remember, these speakers are made for home use by audiophiles, not for professional work... although I don't think I would hesitate to use them for professional work in a pinch. Great value overall!

Good speakers ruined by the standby function

I read about the standby mode function on these speakers before I got them. I understood it to be a simple short delay in hearing audio once it is played. It is anything but that. The speakers go into standby mode after 15 minutes and this can not be changed. Simple things like playing a chess game will not wake it up. Furthermore, if you have a voice activated smart home device hooked up to it, you will need to ask your task twice before you hear any audio feedback. The first time will be just to wake up the speakers. With all of that said, these speakers are all but useless for computer speakers or smart home voice activated uses. What an incredible design flaw in my opinion.

It definitely worth it.

I don't have any other presonus speakers to compare but these are pretty good. the interface and overall design is convenient. The bluetooth sometimes does't work perfectly when you use it to play games.

Great sound for this price

These monitors are the clearest speaker I have - Klipsch Promedia, Yamaha YAS soundbar, Sonus Play 1 and a few older ones.I did not expect this quality at this price point - period. I would add a subwoofer for a home theater like setup or if you like bass. Minus 1 star for the slow initial Bluetooth connection. Unless multi room audio is a priority, way better than the Sonus Play 1 alternative. I have one and going to sell that.

Fantastic speakers

I got this item while on sale and OMG is the sound quality amazing. I am cheap and from the value perspective, these speakers are top notch. I don't leave a lot of reviews but PreSonus well deserve the praise. I have not purchased any other product from this brand before this item.

great speakers!

Great speaker. The sound quality is good. The only problem is that it has a several seconds wakeup time if I connect to TV or some other sound sources.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase

I live in an apartment and wanted a system that serve multipurpose to save room. I use these with the tv, computer, phone and home dj setup. The trs inputs work great with the dj equipment and the bluetooth pairs up nicely with my computer and phone. The sound when connected with bluetooth is slightly off versus hard wiring but very slight. I use these in a room that is 15'x30' and they fill the space nicely but could use a subwoofer. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

Full sound even outdoors

I just set these up with a longer, high quality speaker wire between the main unit and the slave speaker out on our screened-in back porch. Bluetooth streamed "Kid's Bop" or whatever on Pandora while my 8 year old daughter and her friends played in the back yard and they loved it. Certainly has the juice to carry sound over a couple hundred feet. I'm on the outskirts of town so it doesn't bother neighbors but if they were closer it certainly would. Also used these on vacation with a rigged up laptop/projector/PreSonus system (wired input this time) to watch movies with the guys. Great movie sound! Granted, we were all pretty drunk :) Great power and clarity. The lows are obviously limited by the speaker size. The lows are there, but not pronounced. The sound quality is obvious though. The build and design are pretty sharp to get this much sound out of 4.5" speakers. If you need a subwoofer, the sub-output is there. Just add a powered sub and... BASS!

Good value.

Will not be the best speakers you will have ever heard, but they are a great value for the price. The sound easily fills small to medium size spaces, and it is largely distortion free. My only complaint is that the Bluetooth connection is finicky at times.

Good clean sound w/ High & Low controls on the back.

Coming from the Logitech Speakers and then my all time favorite 2.1 Speakers by Cyber Acoustics ( https://amzn.com/B0027VT6V4 ), love the Cyber Acoustics ones so much that after 1 1/2 yrs when it broke, I bought a new one. Now I have been looking into these Bookshelf speakers and honestly couldn't justify paying that much for them at the time but when comparing to the recent deals on Bookshelf speakers, I went with this Presonus 4.5BT. While I do love my Cyber Acoustics, these Presonus has a more defined sound. The highs & lows are good but I can say that for me personally, when you turn this up, you will loose the bass as it just gets messy and that's when the back adjustments on the Lows really help bring that bass to a sweet level. For me, I would need a Sub with this set as I have been use to my Cyber Acoustics which has a sub. I do like the Bluetooth features but like many has mentioned, the sleep and wake just don't make sense really. It should be awake at all times but it's not and that does give it a slight delay when it wakes up. Another thing to take not is also when there is no sound (without Bluetooth), when it does pickup sound, you will hear a slight click in the speakers as it pickup the sound. If you are OCD, these speakers are not for you. I can live with these faults since I paid so less for them as I would say it's worth the price after the rebate but not at full retail at ($) I have heard great things about the Kanto YU5 Bookshelf Bluetooth Speakers and when those go on sale, I'm going to get myself a set.

Awesome Monitors

These speakers are solid. The sound is very clear and they can get quite loud. My living room is 300 sq. ft. and these are plenty. I paired them with a nice sub. and listening music in my living room is a treat. Also, they do not take up too much space and are very well built. They have a good weight to them. Finally, setting them up is super simple: they have a sub out to work as a driver for the subwoofer, a blue tooth connection to pair (up to 2 devices), and aux input, headphone jack, and RCA input on the back to connect tvs. All in all, very recommended.

Nice sound for a wireless speaker

I got these recently and started doing some listening to songs from my phone via BT. The overall sound is very impressive for such small speakers, and the BT function works. There is considerable base in spite of their small size, and the sound fills the room. I got these for sale with a rebate, so a really good deal when comparable priced BT systems just doesn't even come close to these speakers in terms of audio performance.

versatile, better than similar priced soundbars

I have the TV headphone output connected to the 3.5mm front input of the monitor and get great sound from the TV, especially when listening to music shows (The Voice). It produces plenty of bass so I set the bass button to mid and set the high to max to obtain better voice rnage. With this setup, I preset the volume button on the spekaer to middle and then control the volume with the TV remote as usual, much convenient. I also connect a Blueray player using the RCA connection to the speakers and the sound range produced is even better but also louder. My iPad has no problem establishing Blue Tooth connection to the speakers as well, no connection drops within 20ft around in the kitchen/family room, and the sound is great playing MP3 or Youtube too. Compared to other TV muddy, muted soundbars in the $200 range that I tried and returned in the past, these monitors speaker produce much better sound range, plenty of thump and punchy bass with clear voice dialog when watching TV shows. It can be very loud when the volume is pushed up all the way and yet still playable without major distorsions, It's not comparable to full 5.1/7.1 Home Theatre system nor meant to reproduce Dolby Digital movie sound effects but it's very versatile and convenient for everybody in the house watching TV, playing MP3 from their tablets/phones, or listening to music CD becauise it does not require any other controls (set it once and forget it, except the volume control from time to time for the RCA inputs if the audio source is too low/high). It goes to sleep when not in use but wakes up a few seconds after any audio source is on, perfect feature for our needs and requirements. If your needs are similar to ours, then give it a try, you won't be disappointed, recommended.

Extremely true sound

I am not a hardcore audiophile, but as a classical musician, I am very particular about my speakers producing a true, accurate sound. These light and versatile monitor speakers deliver just that, with the added convenience of bluetooth connectivity, bass/treble response control knobs, and multiple ports in back that support a wide range of audio inputs.

Good sound poor switch

The speakers sounds good. There is no muddy base or missing bands of frequencies. To turn it on/off requires one hand to hold down the speaker, another to push the switch. It's annoying they couldn't design a better switch. I use this as computer speakers. The computer is used for editing video/audio and play games. They are a little big but so are all near field monitor speakers. The speakers have reflex ports. I read that for better accuracy, it is better not to have ports. I don't know much about this issue. Also the ports faces the back, so you need something like a wall near the back to make use of these ports.

GREAT for the $

Though I wouldn't call them "professional" studio monitors, their sound is pretty impressive considering their size. What really sold me was the flexibility all of the inputs/outputs afforded me. Nothing else in this price range came close, and after I fixed some EQ issues (on my computer), these things are pretty awesome. I would recommend adding a sub though, as you'll be missing quite a bit of the lower end without one (they conveniently have a Sub-out jack as well).
