The only negative I can say about the mini TT1 and the Flex T5 is that it took me longer than expected to get them up and running, but they are working great.

Haven't used it a lot yet but I'm impressed with it at this point. The quick start manual is a little vague but the on line manual is very good. I think this will see a lot of use in the future. Using it with a matching transceiver to fire a Canon 430EX II flash off camera.

The PW MiniTT1 is one of the main tools in my toolbox for my photography business. I currently have two of them along with the TT5's. During a mad dash to obtain a shot during a wedding I inadvertently slammed my s910 against the wall thus snapping the connector on the TT1. I want to thank my TT1 for taking the brunt of the hit which saved my SB910, but was sad for it's demise. At that point I was able to use another TT5 as a trigger and complete the job, but realized how important my TT1 is as my main trigger. I now have 3 TT1's and will never go out shooting without one.

Just getting back into lighting with monolights and for me the mini just revolutionized my photography. Updated software via my computer and only took 5 minutes to figure out how to use it. This is an awesome small tool!

The one I bought is for the Canon system. 5D Mk II and Speedlite 580 EX II. When operated with just these two devices this item works flawlessly - however - when I introduced Canon's infrared remote trigger into the setup it would lock up the CAMERA in such a way that I had to disconnect the Pocket Wizard and cycle the camera power off and on to wake it up. Canon had never heard of this problem and so had no solution. Pocket Wizard said something to the effect that Canon firmware was not "pre-releasing" their camera and that was the reason for the problem. I'm not convinced that was really the problem however. I asked PW why the green LED on their unit continued to flash after I shut it off with the switch. Strange, they said, try restoring the PW to factory default using the included USB cable and PW software. Doing that seems to have fixed it. The green LED no longer flashes after I shut it off and the camera no longer locks up. It seems that somehow PW was actually locking up the camera. Both Canon and PW customer service were very helpful in figuring out this curious malfunction.

The miniTT1 on camera with FlexTT5 units works. It simply works. If you are having problems, go back to the basics. The best trick is to start with everything turned off, including your camera. Turn on the flash unit, then its FlexTT5, then the miniTT1, and finally the camera. Using the miniTT1, I just raise the antenna on the FlexTT5 units and never worry about aligning the antennae. I also recommend using the AC3 to control the power ratio, and especially when using your TTL mode.

AC3zone controller should be built in to unit. This is a well built good design. Definitely a bonus to have this streamlined device on camera as opposed to a larger flex transceiver. This system is a must for any serious photographer.

Wonderful! Cut the cord, use this (with a FlexTT5 of course). Simple to use. You will want more of these and strobes too.

I just ordered this on a recommendation from an industry colleague and it works great. It was super simple to setup and use.

Great improvement over infrared flash communication. It is easier to set up than infrared flash as well. No need to set a flash as master or slave; you do that with switches on the PocketWizards. I, for one, am happy that it does not use AAA batteries. It would be much larger and bulkier if it did.

As a Pro Photographer I find it strange that Wizard or any other Advertiser never stated that The TT1 , TT5 and AC3 will NOT work with the Nikon D2Xs and earlier DSLR cameras, there apparently also is a problem with some Canons. After contacting the company they stated they have no intention at this time to write a software patch to correct this problem as it would be too time consuming. I would not recommend this product to people with one of the earlier Nikon Flagship's.

Great devise when used properly. Watch PocketWizard tutorials for proper usage including start up procedures, initial test firing, focusing, etc. and you'll love how well it works. Use it with a haphazard setup and you'll be upset with its performance. I also like PocketWizard's constant upgrades/support refining the product's capabilities as new camera's come online.

I use this product in conjunction with two other Pocket Wizard Flex 5s. They all work together perfectly. I have no negative comments. Only issue I have had is that it seems to be easy to bump the power button. Several times I have caught the unit on when it was turned off, and the battery is not one you could just pick up in a drug store in most case. It is imperative that the units be kept updated and be on the same version software-as stated in the instructions. And, remember that the first shot will never be a good exposure-it is a test shot.

Love the size for the hot shoe on camera. Flex will do the same thing but is somewhat larger in size. I opted for the mini for the camera and love it. Small and stays out of the way. Especially when camera is hanging fromt the strap. Love it!

Though this little unit worked alright with the Flex TT5, the issues with breaking Canon 580 EX II flashes was enough for me to sell my system. I had high hopes but preferred to sell this sytem rather than sell my 2 580s

I have had this product for 2 years and have to say it usually performs as advertised. The only problem I have encountered is with the MiniTT sometimes not making proper contact while in the hotshoe. Usually a quick tweek of the Mini solves the problem. If you can't risk ever missing a shot, maybe the Flex system is not for you as I have not found it to be 100% reliable, but 99% of the time it works just fine. The high speed sync ability is great and it works. I also like that the firmware/software is upgradeable, I think Pocket Wizard makes a quality product and am happy with my purchase.

Used with the the PW Flex TT5 makes your Speedlites useful as an on-the-fly flash out in the field with TTL as an option

I thought I'd do an upgrade from my Plus II's. I was looking to use the High Speed sync function of this unit. In my cons I say there is no shut off function. I know that if the unit is on the camera and the camera is idle it will shut off. My issue is that apparently if you take the unit off the camera and forget to put the switch to off it will drain the battery. Which brings me to the other issue I have with this unit. These batteries are expensive and I'm a fan of AA or AAA rechargeable batteries. This is why I would recommend that if you want standard batteries then the Flex TT5 is just a few dollars more. In the long run you'll save money by not having to by the special battery required to power this unit. Having said all of that I like the Pocket Wizard products, this one included. It works as advertised. I have used the High Speed Sync up to 1/8000 with no issues. The battery thing is an issue with me. I have to make sure that I have an extra battery with me. I've also taken to removing the battery after I'm done shooting just in case I forgot to turn off the unit. My son uses my equipment too so sometimes he forgets. Solely on this issue I'd tell people to get the Flex TT5 not recommend this unit.

Pick either the US or European versions - you can't mix them, they use different frequencies and will not work together.

There is no substitute for PW's !! They are the best , most reliable triggers available !! These TT1's also allow you to use an on camera flash if desired , which I have done until my recent AC3 controller purchase. Now I have Awesome control of all of my off camera flashes !!!

Light weight and easy to use. Coupled with the FlexTT5's on the flashes and you're off shooting. It's that easy. PocketWizard gives you one of the best off camer flash systems out there. The i-TTL works just like the flash is on the hot shoe. One of the best things about the MiniTT1 is you can mount a flash right on top of it and still comand the the FlexTT5's all at the same time.

I use this to transmit to two TT5 receivers. It works well and fits perfectly on my camera. I can add an on camera flash to it also allowing for more lighting options.

These TT1's are just the ticket for on camera remotes !! Much smaller than the TT5's , but only function as transmitters. All work flawlessly on my nikon gear. An added bonus , you can still attach a flash to the top of these on camera if need be !! PW's are the only triggers I'll use !!
The PocketWizard smallest MiniTT1 Transmitter locks onto the camera's hot shoe supporting an on-camera flash with its own hot shoe while working with remote PocketWizard units. Remotes can be one or more PocketWizard FleXTT5 Transceivers connected to Canon E-TTL II flashes or any PocketWizard Receiver for triggering flash or remote cameras.
The MiniTT1 Transmitter is easy to use; just slide in place and begin to shoot. The new PocketWizard ControlTL System interprets the complex E-TTL II data being sent through the camera's hot shoe and digitally transmits it in a reliable radio signal. Change the flash compensation dial on the camera and those commands pass seamlessly through the system to your remote flash. Adjust your shutter speed, aperture or ISO and the system corrects for those changes.
A ratio command set on the flash or command unit passes through the MiniTT1 to set the remotes. PocketWizard ControlTL radio communication allows you to shoot farther, faster, around corners, through walls even at high noon in bright daylight. Now you can deploy a wireless flash system wherever you want, without infrared limitations, in seconds.
Use the MiniTT1 for standard triggering with any PocketWizard Receiver including the FleXTT5, PlusII or MultiMAX. When used this way with a digital camera, you can take advantage of PocketWizard's HyperSync Technology that allows up to 1/500th of a second camera sync with many camera/strobe set-ups. HyperSync allows you to advance the timing of your flash trigger so that faster then X-sync speeds can be achieved.
A new PocketWizard Utility program is provided to support the MiniTT1 via a USB port. The Utility allows you to configure your channel settings, dial in your HyperSync timing, adjust your sleep-mode timers and update your product to the latest firmware.
The PocketWizard MiniTT1 Transmitter is the start of a new era in wireless trigger control.
