Super upgrade from the stock lens I?ve been using. Crystal clear image. Heavier than what I?m used to, but not too heavy.

A must have for the Pentax k1 Mark II. Excellent landscape photos. Cons....Little heavy.

Makes for a good walk around lens. Image quality better than a "kit" lens (the 28-105) and the constant aperture comes in handy for low light. I was looking for a good do-all walk around lens and so far this takes the cake.

I've shot just under 200k photos with the "kit" 28-105 lens but I needed something that focused at a closer distance. A nice, sharper image is welcome along with an indicator of the focusing distance. VERY happy with this lens! Though quite a bit more expensive than the "kit" lens and a lot heavier (I shoot 300-500 photos/day so weight is an issue), the quality is great!

It is new to me, but I am impressed as to how it matches my K1. It is a great combo and feels good enough to replace my 28-105 as the walk about lens always on my camera. Versatile for a variety of uses.

My brother bought and recommended this lens to me. He said it was one of the best lenses he had ever used for pictures of his children. It is well balanced with the Pentax K1-MII. It is a little heavy but not so much that a tripod if needed. The constant F stop makes getting the exposure easy. There is a lens lock switch that is handy once you get use to it, although the lens doesn't seem to extend on it's own when pointed down. I like the lens a lot, I have used it on family group shots, portraits, children, and yesterday on fireworks! The photo's turned out great, it was easy to use, I am very happy with the purchase. The only thing that might be a negative was the price, it is a little expensive. About $1,100.

Smooth operation of Zoom and focus rings. Fairly heavy, which I like for stability, but can make for a heavy setup on a K-1 with a battery grip. One of the sharper lenses I've used (haven't used any Pentax primes).

The thing is a beast. Definitely not a first lenser. I find that it is backwards from the rest of the lenses I had for my old Canon where the focus ring is further away from the camera body. Weight and size is an issue but easy to get used to. Takes great photos.

Everything you want from a zoom lens. Pretty clear and sharp across the whole range.

I bought this lens for my pre-ordered Pentax K-1 Mk II. I am using this lens on my K3 till I get my K1. The K3 being a crop sensor is not utilizing the full range of the lens. The lens appears to be well made and I like that it is a weather resistant lens. I have only had it a week and I have not had much time to test it out. I have high hopes for this lens on my upcoming K1. The images I have shot appear to be sharp and the colors are beautiful. Once I get my K1 I will repost my findings.

This goes well with my full frame Pentax K1. Excellent general lens that covers most situations!

Great color, bokeh, sharp, nice starbursts. It is not perfect, but no fast zoom lens is. Minor issues are easily corrected in software like Lightroom. I recommend.

I shoot concerts, weddings, people, etc.. I needed a fast standard zoom. I used the Sigma 17-50 on my crop for years. great lens. Then moved to Tammy 28-75 for the K1 upgrade on the cheap, FINALLY moved over to this lens. Dead silent AF, almost too quiet. Zoom ring can be stiff to move and up front and focus in back, is a change for me. The images are amazing. Stunning across the range. Just in love with this lens. Heavy as hell but amazing. NO regrets on grabbing this.

I paid too much for this lens, but it performs very well. Focusing is great, once I calibrated the lens adjustment. The nano coating is the ticket against smears and dust, and flare control is good. I like the locking mechanism, too. I use it with a K-3 APS-C sensor, and it is the only real Pentax choice in the mid-range, f2.8 zoom. I use it in combination with my 12-24 f4, so I am good. I depend upon this lens for portraits, shooting at f2.8 much of the time.

When it is in focus, it is extremely sharp. Bokeh is beautiful. IQ is amazing. Great color saturation. I had a number of times where I got back focus though and thus I missed important shots at a wedding reception. Needs calibration, but I should have done that before the wedding. Overall, I'm a happy camper.

I've now shot over 500 pictures with the D FA 24-70 and I think it is a very good lens. I'm using it on the Pentax K-1 and this combination is very good. I demand that my lenses are very sharp because I like to make enlargements of my best shots and this lens is probably my sharpest lens. The color rendition is very good. So far the lens has been almost perfect when it comes to auto-focus. There is virtually no chromatic aberrations as far as I can tell, which is a significant advantage over my other lenses. The lens is definitely substantial with significant size and weight. I use a shoulder strap more now that I used to, although I don't notice much of a difference when my equipment is in my backpack. I'm very glad that the lens has weather protection as I'm used to shooting with lenses that do not and it causes some worry in wet conditions. I can no longer use any of my filters because this lens takes 82 mm filters so I'll have to get some new filters. Other than the size and weight, this lens is pretty ideal for me. And given it's performance I think it would be difficult to make a comparable lens that is much smaller or lighter.

I have only had a chance for a few test shots on a K5, but the quality of the pictures is excellent. I really like the solid feel of this lens. The zoom is firm but smooth and the focus ring is just right. Can't wait to try it on the K1 when it arrives.
