Very excited about this lens. Just as advertised. A great medium range zoom that works great for landscape and portrait photos. Clear lenses, smooth action, and a stable mount to the camera body. The hood gives ample shade from excess glare and filters screw on and off easily for quick changes. Very satisfied and looking forward to several years with this lens.

Lens is versatile and fairly sharp at all focal lengths. It's best stopped down a bit, but I'm pleasantly surprised with this lens

Best bang for the buck on a new zoom for Pentax currently. Ticks off most of the important aspects, WR, sharp, good range, fast quiet focusing, compact, rugged, modern. Watch for my Pentax K1 Mark II review on the photographic central blog. Many of the images will be shot using this lens.

I have been using Pentax system for about 10 years now, from the K-5 to K-1. I have a bunch of Pentax lens from the very old Takumar lens and the limited FA 31mm to this Kits lens DFA 28-105mm. I love Pentax's WR version lens, it's cool to use it in the Niagara falls when I had my K-5 and 18-135. Now I changed to the full frame K-1, at first I intended to buy the 24-70 f/2.8, but after check the weight I decided to try the 28-105---a bit slow at the aperture, a bit narrow at the wide end, but except that it's just what I need---light enough for travel, and I prefer to use 35mm and 85mm. The IQ is much better than expected, very sharp and great color, you won't believe this is a kit lens.

Was kinda skeptical at first but after reading several reviews decided this lens might be just the ticket for my new K 1. I'm glad I made the decision as it was a good choice. I've tried some preliminary shots at different settings and am extremely satisfied with the results.

Someone, somewhere mentioned this lens as a kit lens. This is not a kit lens by any means. I intend to leave this optic on my K1mk2 camera probably most of the time. It is that good. Thanks Pentax. The quality of the photos is remarkable. Clarity is the best I have ever seen. Adjustment of the focus in manual mode is fast, and quiet. I can't add any more kudos for this lens. Its great!

I agree with one of the previous reviewers, this is far from a kit lens. Comparing images I shot with some shot by a fellow photographer that had borrowed the 24-70mm. I am convinced that this lens is possibly ever-so-slightly sharper, and at the very least the same. With it having a greater range, being smaller & lighter, and as I believe also sharper, I do not think the faster aperture of the 24-70 is a worthwhile trade off, especially since ISO 800 and 1600 on the K1 are so phenomenal the 2.8 aperture would rarely be needed for what i shoot. You will not be disappointed with this lens at all. Mine spends more time on my K1 than any of my other lenses (with the 150-450mm as a close 2nd).

Very nice all around lens, that is to say, if you only have one lens for the K-1, this is the most useful lens. I have other lenses but I like this as my general lens.

As a hobbyist and not a pro I look at things a bit different. My former camera was a Nikon D300 mainly using the 70-200 F2.8 but I got tired of carrying around a big bag whenever I travelled. I traded it in for the Sony RX 10 when it came out but was a bit disappointed and after reading so much about the K1 I decided to go back to a big body camera. The camera is fantastic and I am amazed in how the technology has progressed since the D300. Now to the lens, coming from Nikon and their enticement lenses I expected this was the "kit lens" for the K1. Boy was I wrong. The clarity and sharpness of this lens is fantastic for the price. I have printed 13 by 19s that are just stunning. I am now glad that I did not by the 24-70 F2.8 as pared with a K1 and the ISO ability go the camera it is rare you need the low light capability of the F2.8. If you need a nice travel lens that is moderate in weight, you cannot beat this for the price.

So far I really like this camera even though I have'nt had a lot of time to play with it yet. It is a big change from my K30 that I also liked. I'll try to write more after using the camera for a while.
