Wonderful little and inexpensive lens for the price. The mount is plastic but I've had no problems in 8 years of use. The focus is fast, the bokeh is very nice and the colors it renders is superior to lenses of other brands I've compared it to. (My other third party Pentax compatible lenses)

As the saying goes, a ?nifty fifty? should be in any serious photographer?s kit of prime lenses. This lens is fast at 1.8 and i love using it for portraits right out of the box. The bokeh is right where I need it to be for studio and location portraiture, it is a definite ?must have? lens.

Nice lens, light, fast, small. Your web site claims it is also for a full frame K-1...it is not..yes it will fit..but it will be a cropped image.

A must buy for Pentax cameras. The price to performance factor is really high here. The lens is very small but still has a decent focus ring and the autofocus is fast enough. But for less then 100 dollars... You have to buy this.

The lens was as I expected...great value. The method of packaging; however was insufficient to protect the original box. One of the flaps on the box was torn. It was mailed in a vacuum packed enveloped and stuffed into our mail box. Something of this technology should be shipped in an outer corrugated box to protect the manufacture's original box..

You can't beat the price for the quality you get. I am a portrait and wedding photographer, and use this lens all.the.time. I did a wedding recently and rented a (big name brand) 2.8 24-70, as mine had recently broke, and I ended up switching it out to use my 50 because the quality wasn't as good....and the rental was a ($) lens!

Unlike the person that gave the 2 star review he should check the camera mount for the k1 and what is done with a K mount lens.. What he said the camera would go into crop is correct for a K mount lends camera. My K3II worked great and gave me a full frame picture. My picture have great color and images sharpens. Before buying any thing make sure it is compatible with you camera. this lends should never get 2 stars as long as you by it for the correct camera.

For the money, this is probably the best lens you can get for a Pentax camera. Amazing bokeh. Minimal learning curve with this lens. You can simply mount it to your camera and instantly start taking some jaw dropping photos.

This little lens has so much capability for its size. Open up the aperture to 1.8 and be prepared to take great night photos. The focus can be a tad finicky, but any good cameraman can work it easily. I recommend this for generalized shooting, as there is no zoom feature (obviously) and you'll have a great time everywhere you take it.

This lens is a 'nifty fifty' that really shines as a great choice for someone who is looking for a low priced standard prime lens It's lightweight and works perfectly - no complaints. .

For the price (shoot, for any price) this is a gem, and it is almost painfully sharp and noiseless. I'm a working pro and am completely satisfied with the performance of this lens. The only downside is that there is a lot of (high-quality) plastic, so I won't be pounding any nails with it. Get it. You'll love it.

This is my first prime lens, and so far I'm satisfied. At such a low price I had my doubts as to whether or not I'd keep it or return it. It's certainly sharper and of course has a much faster aperture than the Pentax 18-135 that I've been using and loving. However, this lens is loud. Very loud. But, I've been enjoying the bokeh and it's making me learn how to compose much better (I didn't realize how lazy a zoom lens had made me). So, if you can ignore the chainsaw whirring when it focuses, then get this lens-you can't beat the price for a sharp and overall good quality piece of equipment.

I bought this for my Pentax K-70 and it's perfect for portraits. The f/1.8 really allows you to have that nice blurred out background.

buying this lens. 4 shots out the front door in the dark , 50mm f/1.8 on a K70 set to auto, and all 4 looked light they were taken in full daylight. Camera, lens, combination, I don't know, but it works.

This may be a bit unfair, but I'm only giving this 2 stars. I was looking for a full frame lens for the K1. This lens showed up on the search as a full frame format lens, and so I bought it. The picture quality was pretty disappointing, even compared to the Sony APS-C images I was used to. Weeks later I noticed that the K1 automatically switched to the crop mode with this lens mounted. After some google searches, I found out that this lens is in fact a crop lens. Fix your search parameters Adorama.

I have a manual 50, but with four cats in the house, all of whom move quickly when they see a camera, I need to focus more quickly. My cats hate it, but I love it.

If you derive your satisfaction from photography by owning a label like Canon "L" lenses or Leica or some other moniker, then this lens is not for you. This lens is as good as advertised. Razor sharp. Fantastic color and contrast. At the price they sell it at it's being given away. I won't go into the "build quality" or plastic this or that. The glass is what counts and this is good stuff.
