It gives a good range of focal lengths in a fairly compact package without giving up too much on light-gathering ability. It's obviously not in the league of the f/2.8 lenses out there, but the price isn't in that league either.

Very please with the pictures, focusing is fast. I take pictures of big jets on final approach to land and I am happy with the results and of course, the price. I use it on a KP and on a K5-IIS. Shipping was fast, as promised.

This is a great lens. Fits and works perfectly with my Pentax K50 DSLR camera. I have not given it a lot of use yet, but I will be using it this week end on the lake.

I love the fact that it is a DA lens, which has better glass in it than the DAL. The other thing that is truly fantastic is that it is a WR lens when attached to a Weather resistant pentax body this makes for a superb pair. My DA WR 100mm lens to a spill twice in a river bed in Costa Rica. I can truly testify that the WR lens and camera body is not at all like any other camera out there.

For the price it's hard to complain really.Takes good photos and focuses fairly fast and the dust/weather seal is a huge plus.It is about what i expected for a consumer grade lens with nearly 6 times zoom.Sure you can do better,for a lot more money.

I'll get the cons out of the way first. Its focus is a bit slow and noisy, and sometimes it misses focus. You don't want to use this lens for sporting events, and it's not all that great on birds in flight. Now for the pros: it's sharp when it nails the focus; it's light; it's weather sealed; and you can't beat it for the price. All in all, a great match for a K-3 or any other Pentax crop body camera.

My other Pentax 55-300mm lens bit the dust when it hit the deck at the marina. The WR was my replacement choice to go on my K20D because I'm often out on or near salt water, rain and wind. So far it's proved to be bit sharper than my previous lens, and passed the salt water test after being doused by heavy spray over the bow of our observation boat at a recent regatta. A few good wipedowns, lens cleaning and body cleaning with Qtips and all is well. Focus is still slow and hunts occasionally, but better than my previous 55-300. It's not L glass, but great for the money. I like it. I was surprised that an order of this value was delivered without requiring a signature. Fortunately, I was home to get it when it was delivered. It could have easily been stolen if left at the door and we weren't here to take it.
