When my three year old had a fever and I couldn't get her to keep the thermometer under her tongue, I became envious of the doctors with their instant thermometers. When I finally found this and ordered it, I was delighted. My 12 year old son has tried more than once to feign sickness to skip school, but all I need to do is pull this out and he sighs in dismay. The Pyle is built sturdy and I'm glad it takes AAA batteries which are easy to find instead of those little watch batteries which come in so many shapes and sizes, but because of the LCD screen which doesn't have a back light my first batteries have lasted months without needing to be replaced!
