It has an excellent tray life. I was interrupted in one darkroom session, so I covered the tray with a larger tray and came back about 24 hours later, and ot worked fine. It is one of the developers that rivals the old Kodak "Dektol" for overall performance.

I don't think I'll bother trying any other paper developer. This stuff works great! And it seems to last forever! I'm still using the same batch I diluted three weeks ago and it hasn't changed color yet. I'll keep using it until it quits working and then mix up some more.

I bought this as a convenient substitute for Dektol.

Take your photographic print development to the next level with Photographers' Formulary's Weston's Amidol Paper Developer, a top-tier choice for professionals and enthusiasts alike. This high-quality developer is renowned for producing prints with strikingly neutral to cold tones, ensuring your images convey the intended mood and atmosphere. The developer is formulated to achieve excellent crisp tonal separation, allowing for the finest details to emerge with clarity, while also delivering deep, rich blacks that add depth and dimension to your photographs.
Crafted for efficiency and reliability, the Weston's Amidol Paper Developer is versatile, allowing photographers to dilute the working solution for softer results without significantly altering the color balance. This adaptability makes it an ideal choice for those seeking creative control over their print development process.
For optimal performance, it is recommended to pair this developer with bromide paper, which complements the chemical composition to produce the best possible outcomes. The kit includes all necessary chemicals to prepare one stock solution, with solid amidol provided to create the active working solution. Due to the ephemeral nature of amidol once in solution, the kit thoughtfully includes several packages to ensure consistent quality across multiple development sessions.
The stock solution boasts a commendable shelf life of six months, providing ample time for use. However, once the amidol is introduced, the working solution remains potent for a concise window of 2-3 hours, emphasizing the importance of precise timing in the art of photography development.
Elevate your photographic prints with the effective and professional-grade Weston's Amidol Paper Developer, and experience the difference that a high-quality developer can make in showcasing the full spectrum of tones in your work.
