Quantum Battery 1 Compact

I was tired of always wondering whether or not my rechargeable batteries in my SB-600s were going to last throughout my photo sessions. Also tired of bringing a ton of backup batteries and switching them in and out during my shoots. The Quantum Battery 1 Compact solved both issues. It provides a very visible LED scale that lets you know how much charge is left in the battery. It lasted through a 2 hour session with at least a half charge left. Although I wasn't thrilled with having to purchase and use an adapter to connect my speedlights with the battery, the setup is exactly what I was looking for. The only other question to answer was "How do I mount this setup to my light stands?" The solution was using a Manfrotto super clamp. The battery has a 1/4" threaded post onto which I connected a stud. The stud is inserted into the super clamp and the clamp is placed on the light stand. Having to purchase the SB-600 adapter (which I thought was a bit pricey) and the super clamp was the only reason that I didn't give the battery 5 stars.

I bought these batteries to power my 2 Nikon SB600s. For my flash work I use Nikon CLS in manual and adjust the flashes remotely, since AA batteries don't last too long, these batteries are a god send. Light weight, easy to store and last a long time. The only thing I wish they had is 1/4 - 20 mount so you can attach or mount to a light stand.

Every serious photographer should got such a tool in his working bag. I hope that quantum will keep this product in their catalog for long long time. One never can imagine how hard it is to be out of battery on the reporting field... until you find that little tool in hand, Thanks Adorama to be our handy provider on photo field... I purchased this to alleviate the expenses of purchasing and carrying around a sufficient # of batteries for my flash. This battery pack provides quick turnaround of flashtime and has eliminated the # of batteries I was carrying around to each engagement. I'd highly recommend this item to anyone wanting to reduce battery costs
