Very effective
I use these clamps to hold batteries for speedlights on light stands. They clamp on very securely and all of the batteries I have used with a belt clip work perfectly with this clamp. If you can't tell from the pics, there is a little notch in the base that holds a round pole in the middle of the base so it won't rotate or slip once tightened.
