I use the CoPilot to control up to 3 Remote Q-Flashes. 2 - QFlash T5d-R's and 1 QFlash Trio QF8N and it works very well in both Manual and TTL modes. It has a much lower profile than the QF9N Pilot and it takes a little less time to make adjustments on the fly than going into the QF9N's menu. I have been using Quantum Q Flashes for about 10 years so all three of my Flashes required a firmware update. I dropped the Flash Units off at Quantum Instruments HQ in Bartlett, IL on a Wednesday afternoon and picked them up Friday morning. Less than a 48 hour turn-around is great service and there was no charge for the updates. I also had the updated hotshoe lock added to my Trio QF8N for a fee. Now all of my Quantum gear is fully up to date and should continue to serve me well into the future.

Worked great right out of the box. I have two Qflashes with receivers and they both worked without any problems. Quantum has always made excellent quality products and they will always help you on the phone. or email.

This is an update to a previous review. Be aware that you'll likely have to update your flash's firmware to use the CoPilot. That was an incredible headache and took six weeks to finally get my flashes back from Quantum. I was also very surprised that Quantum was unaware that the firmware in their older flashes was incompatible with the CoPilot. That is something they should have known. Having survived the firmware update, the CoPilot has functioned beautifully. I can easily adjust the power of my three T5Drs from the camera. It's made using my Quantum flashes much easier and quicker. I am very satisfied with the CoPilot now.

In theory this should be a great product. I was looking forward to ditching the clunky D-adapter and freewire transmitter for a simple unit I could put on my hot shoe. The unit would not communicate with my T5dR's in TTL mode. Worked fine in manual, but why spend the money for a product that won't live up to its claims. Spent over a week waiting for tech support to get back to me on why I was having a problem. Turns out, both the CoPilot and my T5dR's need to have firmware upgrades. When talking to tech support, I was under the impression they were not aware of this problem. This product has been on the market a year, and they're just now learning of a problem? REALLY? Sent my T5dR's in for the firmware upgrade and it looks like I won't have them back for five weeks. I cannot recommend this product. The time and hassle this has ended up costing me is far greater than the benefit I'd receive from the CoPilot. If you buy this product, be aware that you'll probably have to send your T5dR flashes in for a firmware upgrade, and also do a firmware upgrade on the CoPilot.

You can elevate your photography skills with the Quantum CoPilot User-Friendly Wireless TTL Flash Controller, specifically designed for Canon DSLR cameras. This high-performance flash controller offers the ability to control three independent groups of remote Qflashes in manual, automatic, or TTL modes, including the QF91C for Canon E-TTL.
The Quantum CoPilot stands out with its user-friendly design, opting for traditional analogue dials over complex LCD menus. This compact transmitter easily slides into your camera's hot-shoe, and with a simple twist of its three knobs, you can intuitively adjust the power level or exposure compensation of your off-camera flashes. A quick switch allows you to effortlessly swap between M and TTL modes, offering an interface similar to the Pocket Wizard AC3 ZoneController.
Enhance your low-light photography with the Quantum CoPilot's LED autofocus-assist lamp. This feature emits an infrared beam to assist with autofocusing in challenging lighting conditions. While the CoPilot is primarily designed for commanding Quantum's radio-enabled Qflash units like the Trio and T5dR, it also allows for the integration of older Qflashes and non-Quantum speedlights into your setup using FreexWire FW8R or FW10W radio receivers.
With the addition of a QLink adapter, you can gain full TTL control of a Canon Speedlite from up to 100 meters away. Although the transmitter lacks a hot-shoe on top, it allows for the connection of a "local" Qflash via cable with TTL pass-through, which can be mounted on a bracket or handheld. This connects to a socket on the side of the CoPilot transmitter.
The CoPilot also includes a Mini-USB socket for future firmware updates. Please note, the CoPilot's control panel is not made up of LEDs or backlit, so reading settings in low light may be challenging. The device uses non-standard CR123A batteries and features a plastic hot-shoe foot.
