I bought this on december 2007, and have it since. I use it for school graduations, portraits and the only thing getting old is the bag. Very sturdy and to keep for all your life. Today as May 2019 is the first time I adjust the poles, were getting loose in one section. Great purchase.

I like how the cross bar clips together and can be screwed to the stands to eliminate the system from coming apart. The air cushion isn’t ideal because when I initially pull the first section of each stand it sticks and I really have to yank on it. The zippers on the bag are absolutely positively not going to last long. I almost threw the bag away to use my old stand bag, but the new stand did not fit the old bag. I will buy a new bag because the zippers WILL fail.

We bought a similar support system a few years ago, we liked it so much that when we needed a 2nd one, we looked for the same one (though that one doesn't seem to be available anymore). The difference between this and the one we bought before is the support bar is 4 pieces that click into each other and the old one was 2 bars that screwed together and you could twist them to make them longer. Clicking the pieces together is quicker than screwing them together, but having set lengths is why I gave this 4 out of 5 stars. I work in a lot of weird sized spaces, and like having the option to adjust a couple of extra inches as needed. It's a good support besides that fact, and well made.

I own a open air PhotoBooth business and recently used this at an outside event. Although it was windy it was easy to strap some weights to it and the weight of the backdrop did not bend the pole. Very easy to set up and break down. Also easy to transport. Definitely recommend it!

This is a sturdy set of stands with a cross-bar for mounting backdrops. It seems sturdy, functional and disassembles into smaller parts for easy carry.

So Im a full time commercial and promotional photographer and this is my second background system. I purchased this because the fittings that the cross bar goes on on my old system broke off and I needed an upgrade. I read the reviews on this background system and decided to give it a try. I use the savage 9' rolls mainly and occasionally use the savage 12' rolls for large composites and catalogue work. The first day or so everything seemed to work fine, although I was a little surprised how light and thin the stands were. We change the background sometimes 4-5 times a day depending on how many outfits I do that day and instantly this thing started to fail on me. The clasps that tighten each extension section are really cheap and we noticed that the stands would start to come down on their own as we were rolling the background up. I had to tighten the clasps multiple times and it still would barely hold them. If you want to use a 12' roll of paper on here forget it!!! It can be adjusted to fi the 12' roll buts its so flimsy that we used multiple A clamps to secure each section for fear of it collapsing during use. If you have ever felt a 12' paper roll you know very well its super heavy and only top notch stands will hold it securely. All in all this isn't a bad stand for someone who puts a 9' roll up and maybe leaves it up for a long time with few changes. If you tend to change the background often then I HIGHLY recommend you get something better and way more sturdy. Its just flimsy, thin and the section clasps on each stand are a joke. I was surprised the reviews were so fantastic. I guess I just use things way more than most.

Im just starting to build my studio and for the price of this background support, it does not get any better. This is also good when you are doing home shooting. Its not that heavy and easy to set up.

I purchased this stand with a desire to acquire a background stand with a flexible width as it said it had four sections to the top bar. The problem is that the button in the ends does not lock on any setup short of all of the sections being put together at full width. It would seem a very minor point to make certain that the female to male sections had the same distance to the pop out button lock. The frame is a bit on the flimsy side for the price consisting of a hollow 4 section tube of metal comprising the top bar held up by two rather lightly constructed stands. I would not recommend this stand to a friend.

We ordered this without the usual amount of research and vetting for Studio equipment; but hey, it was on sale. It is a significant upgrade from our previous travel stands. The quick locks are fast and easy to use (btw, if you're fiddling with the allen key right out of the box, you're probably doing it wrong) and the four section cross bar offers quite a bit of flexibility. The kit is a little heavier and bulkier, but the added durability and strength will be a huge help. (the old BG set was broken when a groomsman stepped on and broke the leg) The included weight bag it fantastic. Why they include only one when there are two support stands is beyond me. I'll have to purchase a second. The only complaint I have is the carry bag. The compartmentalized interior is very easy to use and keeps the parts and pieces organized. However, there is not small tools pocket to store the allen key and there is not enough extra room to store weight bags, even empty. ***Also, the three prong clips DON'T CLOSE. I'm glad there's a zipper because otherwise, the bag couldn't be secured. I'll post photos later, but the physical size of the closure hardware doesn't fit.

I just shot a four day Dance Studio. The background stand was easy to set up and take down. Held up a 9 foot roll of paper. First time I have used it, very happy.

The zipper broke the first time I used it. I had read reviews to that affect, and they are true. But other than that it works well.

This is my first background support system, but I'm pretty happy with it. When I got it, one of the supports was missing its air damping, but Adorama was nice and responsive and said there wouldn't be a problem exchanging it. I have used it two times thus far, to support Adorama 10'x24' muslins. I didn't take it up all the way. Probably about 11' high or so and it was very steady with no appreciable droop in the crossbar. Setup: The crossbar is a piece of cake to put together. I like the locking system. It is a bit unwieldy, but that's going to be the case for any 12' long piece of metal pipe. From there, the supports are quite simple to set up and the legs are very stable. Construction: My only complaint would be the plastic locking devices. They seem robust, but I would have liked metal. Contrary to what I read on another site, the plastic clips lock just fine by hand. There is a small allen wrench included with the kit in case you need to tweak the clip-lock's tension over time, but I don't see that being used too often. The bag that comes with the kit is quite nice. It opens up very well to get the components out and seems to be of nice durable nylon. Some heavier duty zippers would be nice, but they seem pretty good for now. Btw, the kit I got is black. I didn't like the silver look, but that's personal preference. The black looks solid and professional to me. Finally, a lot of sites recommend getting A-clamps to secure your muslin or paper. Just get those at a hardware store. They're a lot cheaper there.

Great stand at a great price. Case is durable. Much more for the money than I thought it would be.

I use this system to do portraits when the customer requests on location shooting with their own props. The only thing I'm experiencing negative is that when using a longer distance between stands, the cross bar sags more than I expected from the ads.

The JTL background support is eay to use and quick to set up, I can connect and disconnect two to four crossbars with ease. The bottom of each stand has two locking knobs, just be careful not to unscrew the knobs too much, there is a small L-shape metal plate placed at the end of the screw to protect the screw from contacting the stand directly, once I unscrewed one of the knobs almost all the way out and the little metal plate fell out, it is easy to insert the plate back in the hole, but if you are not careful, you may not notice it falling out. Overall it is a nice product and seems sufficiently strong for normal use. It costs more than the cheapest stands out there, but you got what you paid for.

Lightweight, easy to set up. When it is fully assembled with all the crossbars, it does sag a little in the middle. It also tends to want to pull the stands towards the middle if not turned right. Much better quality than the last set I bought--and returned. This is well worth the price.

Works great, easy to set up and transport. Seems to be pretty sturdy. Have used a couple of times since being purchased. Nothing is perfect so 4 stars.

Just getting started with a garage studio. We've had this background stand setup for a couple of weeks and it holds our muslins and sheets just fine. The tightening mechanisms are plastic and maybe wouldn't stand up to the constant abuse of some professionals, but at the same time you don't need to crank down on them for everything to stay in place. Would have been 5 stars for metal fasteners, but still a great deal.

Although not heavy duty, this support system is a great value for the cost. Assembles and disassembles easily, and is easy to store in the included carrying case.

Used as a backdrop support for industrial photography. I actually purchased (2) sets, link them together & get 12' of coverage, which I needed in photographing machinery in a manufacturing plant. I made my own backdrops from bolts of mateial that I purchased & hung with shower hooks.

I was pleasantly surprised when these arrived. They are very sturdy, and air-cushioned. In fact, I adapted the studs and have swapped these stands to use with my studio strobes. Great case too. Critiques? I like the finish, but maybe make them available in black...?

PROS: Easy to assemble and take apart. Not too heavy. CONS: Plastic parts break fast. They should not use plastic parts at all. That would make the product super good.

Very stable support system easily able to hold 10x24 backdrops. Nicely packed in a special bag and can be easily transported to location. Of course it is a little on heavy side - but this makes is sturdy. It is huge set up and while the height can be set up seamless, width is defined only in steps of about about 4 feet. Nothing major - can just be a little cumbersome indoors.
