Do not buy these units to use them as pogoplugs. The server no longer exists and you can not register or use it in any way as intended. If you are comfortable opening it up, soldering a uart lead, and then using console to install Linux, then this is a $10 linux box with some limited use. Otherwise, it is not a purchase you should make.

As Pogoplug.com is not up. There is no way to register and use this product. Not sure why they are selling this.

Just so you're aware, PogoPlug is dead so this unit will never work as intended. If you're looking to hack a small device to install Linux, this is a good deal. You'll get 2 Pogoplugs to experiment with for a good price. You do need some soldering skills to connect a cable but it isn't too hard if you practice a little. Check out youtube videos to see how. Google how to open the unit, connect the serial ports, and get a clean install of Linux up and running. I have updated a couple of these units to Debian 4.12 and they are great for dns, tftp, or simple web servers. Get them while you can, I should have bought more of the Pros but they are gone now.

I have tried 3 of the devices so far and none works. I tried them in 4 different networks. Spent over 10 hours and nothing works. I don't know where to find help with this

For the price these are Great! But don't buy them for their original intended use because the company has discontinued support for them. Instead, buy them for modifying!

The item was New and in good condition. Set it up. Created a PogoPlug account. The item and account seemed to working fine. Slow to access Flash drive, so decided to do something else and come back to it. When I tried to sign back in to my PogoPlug account, could not do so, and that's when the "hell" began. Tried to reset password and never could. PogoPlug reset password for support page, but could not access account from support page. I tried and tried to reset password until finally PogoPlug stopped responding to my request. This is no reflection on Adorama, just PogoPlug.com. Thje actual PogoPlug device was okay. If PogoPlug.com is going to ignore people, then just don't do business with them.

Pogoplug devices come with out of date firmware of v3.2.0, does not meet my security requirement. Newer firmware of 3.2.7 or 3.3.0 should address the issue. However, pogoplug firmware update can't be done by end user, it's required to have the pogoplug device connected to internet/pogoplug server, supposedly new firmware should be pushed to device automatically. My new device have been connected to pogoplug server over 10 days, everthibg else seems just fine, but no automatic firmware update! Pogoplus does not have any customer support number, belive it or not! I've opened 5 requests/tickets online, except for automatic email reply, zero customer support/service!!!

You provide your won storage device (external drive, NAS, or SD card), but it is not a stand alone device. You can only access the data through the Pogoplug software. I was hoping it would be stand alone so that my Sonos system could read the SD card with music independently, but that wont work.

Such an easy way to be able to enjoy my personal media over the net. Don't load up your phone or tablet, just connect a hard drive to this little cheap darling. Got mine for user ($) A steal at that price.

I bought it to make a linux music server. It requires some linux skill but there's a great instruction to make it a linux machine here; http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,11663 Hack it, install debian linux and program called 'mpd' then you got a nice music server which can play your music files from attached or networked storages. You also need USB DAC to connect this to audio system. USB DAC's price is as low as $5.00, so you can add nice network music player to your audio system with less than $15.00. There are android and iphone apps to control the player remotely. It's not about original intent of the machine but it serves much better as music server IMO.

I own a PogoPlug and though it does what they advertise, what they don't advertise is what's causing me trouble. For example, you'd think that browsing your files through their web interface would be as easy as using "finder" or "windows explorer" on your computers. Unfortunately, it's got a lot of quirks that make it tough (like inability to check folder sizes; sorting problems, etc.) to use. A quick search on PogoPlug's forums easily reveals how requesting help for these problems is fruitless. Their customer service falls very flat. That said, for the price, it's a decent way to access personal and non-critical business files. Hope this review helps :-)

This is the second pogoplug device I have purchased. I flashed the firmware of the older device and lost the ability to use the pogo service. Even though I reinstalled the cloud engine software, the NTFS drive attached to it was basically readonly in their interface. Long story short, i couldn't have my cake and eat it too.. so I bought this newer model and attached a different drive to it for the sole purpose of backups, both do the attached drive and offsite to the cloud. It works, simple to setup and even at the expense of buying a second device and drive for this functionality I find it a great value.. both of them. I highly recommend this product. The smartphone app is the only real disappointment.. you can't direct WHERE you want your backup to go (straight to the cloud, not your own hard drive). Not to say it doesn't work, you just don't have as much control as I would have liked. NOTE: the instant upload of photos can be directed to the local drive, in settings there is a backup option for your entire camera roll that ignores your target directory and goes to the cloud. Not a huge deal breaker, just a slight ding in my opinion.

My student uses it to back-up her photos and important files...So inexpensive, and easy to use...just add your own HD...back-up doesn't get any easier than this.

The pogoplug was very simple to set up with an external drive, and the interface for various devices and platforms is easy to use. For instant, personal cloud storage without any monthly fees, this is the best solution I could find. I find this great for all-around use...perhaps not up to streaming high quality video, but one can download videos stored on the device at full resolution and play them locally. As I said, the interface is great, and it's possible to share folders with other people via a link, but creating secure (password protected) folders that others may access requires an additional subscription. Pogoplug offers backup software for (free, I think) download to be used with this device, but I prefer to keep full backups on a device that's not networked.
