Dana B : Does the V850 scan Color Transparency Film?ROBERT O : Yes.KARL F : Yes, it will. If you are buying it new, it comes with transparency holders. Mine came with two of each holder which means while one is scanning, you can be loading/reloading the other.Eric H : Yes, it will. Depending on the size of film you might have to buy additional film holders.

Epson V850

The v850 seems fine for my needs. Software especially the Lasersoft has a learning curve. I?m pleased.

High Quality Scanner

The quality of the scans is excellent. I have been using the Epson software so far. I find the SilverFast8 software has a learning curve that I haven’t mastered as of yet.

Great product

I would recommend this. Great features for the price. If refurbished it comes without the original packaging but safely shipped in an Epson box. The software registration is quite painful. It was worth t=it when completed but needed to use the standard Epson software to get started due to the third party security/registration process.

Epson Perfection V850 Pro Flatbed Photo Scanner

Arrived well packed and very few imperfections for a used scanner. I didn’t realize there were two mechanical locks on the scanner in order to use it, and experienced some loud clicking that didn’t sound right, but got support from Epson that was fairly responsive and conclusive. So far so great with some of the best flatbed scans I’ve been able to get from transparencies. Still have some learning to do with the software to unlock all the productivity features but very happy with what I’m getting so far. The dust and scratches feature does a pretty amazing job, and the detail preview lets you tweak areas that need special attention before the final scan. Impressed.

Great price for best Epson V850 slide scanner

Great price for refurbished product. It arrive in 2-3 days, which I originally thought would take a week. The quality of slide scans appears equal to the less expensive Epson V550. The V850 ads ability to slide twice the number of slides. The software is dated, as is an update to scanner model. It’s still the best of the best. I figure I can use for family photo & slide project and resell for high price, due to demand for the best. Excellent sales staff and fast delivery at Adorama. I would definitely buy again!!

Epson V850 Pro Scanner Refurbished - not quite ready to use

The scanner and all items enclosed arrived in excellent condition. However, installation required a bit more work to get it to operate properly. Drivers provided needed to be updated to work on Windows 10. The edition of SilverFast was likewise in need of update and I still have not been able to get supplied version of Epson Scan to function because it says that the scanner I have selected (V850 Pro) is not the one that I have despite the fact that the scanner and all other software confirms that it is a V850 Pro. Since I do not use Epson Scan, I'm not wasting any time trying to correct the problem. Please note that the Digital ICE which originally came with the scanner has been superseded by the newer version of SilverFast. The scanner works just fine with Photoshop and Acrobat. I am happy with the speed and the quality of the scans once the installation has been completed. I use it primarily to scan prints and slides and have been very satisfied with the output for both. Have not yet used it for negatives but I see no reason there should be any problems. On the whole, the scanner seems worth the price despite some initial installation irritations.

Great quality scans, software really helps

The scanner software is smart enough to separate individual photos from a photo book. I had a number of photos that had been pasted into a photo album years ago, and I was not able to remove them without causing damage. This scanner and software was able to scan the pages and separate the photos automatically, which saved me a lot of time.

The scanner is great

The scanner is great, it is pretty fast and renders good digitals if the software does its job. The only thing that keeps it from 5 star is the software, Epson Scan is ok but slow. Silverfast is fast and has a great dust removal feature but is confusing and not at all intuitive. I have only been using the scanner for a couple of weeks so may get a better handle on the software with practice.

This thing is awesome. It is so much better than my old scanner. It is way faster and holds more slides than most other scanners.

The Epson Perfection V850 Pro Flatbed Photo Scanner is designed for professional photographers and serious amateurs, this dual-lens, high-resolution scanner converts a wide range of media and film into superb digital images. It features an enhanced optical system to help create superior-quality images at fast scan speeds. This high-productivity scanner requires virtually no warm-up time and comes with two sets of professional-quality film holders to help you scan quicker. The V850 Pro can also remove dust and scratches automatically from photos and film and includes a professional software package to help you achieve outstanding results.

Optimum Film and Photo Scanning
The V850 Pro's dual lens system automatically selects the optimal lens for whatever media you are wishing to scan. With up to 4800dpi optical resolution for photo scanning and up to 6400dpi when scanning using film holders, high-quality results are promised.

Improved Film Holders
Our new and improved professional-quality film holders now provide a greater degree of control and accuracy, as the height at which the film sits above the scanner bed can be finely adjusted to achieve the sharpest focus possible. The holders' rigid frames, combined with anti-Newton ring plates, also gives a flatter hold for further quality improvements. The V850 Pro comes with two sets of film holders, meaning you can prepare a second set of originals for scanning while the first is still scanning, increasing your productivity.

Automatically Remove Imperfections
Make sure your photos and film look their best without the painstaking effort of manual retouching. Digital ICE technology automatically removes the appearance of dust, hairs, scratches and fingerprints from film scans1 to restore images to their former glory. The technology also works on photos and even removes the appearance of creases and rips/tears to help your old photographs look as good as new again.

Virtually No Warm-Up Time
Don't waste time waiting to start scanning. ReadyScan LED Technology means warm-up time is less than one second so you can start scanning instantly.

Accurate Tones
The scanner has an optical density of 4.0DMax, allowing it to capture even small differences in tone from the brightest area (white) to the darkest area (black). This means it can reproduce the tone from the original film and photographs, giving you clear and accurate results.

High Quality and Speed
The scanners' enhanced optical system (High Pass Optics) utilizes anti-reflective lens coatings and a high-reflection mirror to deliver the sharpest images and improve scanning speed.
