A cheap piece of plastic. Does what it is supposed to do, but how hard is that? Grudgingly recommended.

Personally i love this design. Very easy to retract with a simple little turn but doesn’t retract accidentally. Very easy to extend with a simple push. With lens attached to body and placed holster style in bag, the hood extends itself which I like.

Obviously this worked fine on my lens as it was made for it. Buy one to help with flare and a bit of protection as well.

The product itself is perfectly fine - fits well, is reasonably well constructed, and serves the purpose of reducing lens flare. But... this is pretty expensive for what is essentially a molded piece of plastic. Are there alternatives? Perhaps a generic rubber hood or just luck into some other hood from the bargain bin fitting. Olympus really should reconsider there policy of selling their lens hoods separately!

Fabulous looking, beautifully manufactured and extremely good performer. Highly recommended product but isn't it about time a lens hood was supplied with the lense, take note Olympus!

The M.Zuiko 25mm F1.8 lens comes with a black lens hood (LH-40B). When attached, it snaps into place by giving it one last little twist. It works very well at what it is supposed to do - keeping side light from interfering with your shot. The lens hood fits over the lens in reverse for storage in a camera bag. With the hood in place, it is a bit difficult to remove/replace your lens cap (there just ins't much room for your fingers). But that is a knock on the lens cap, not the hood. The only knock on the lens hood is that it is made of plastic. If you have to purchase a replacement, you will find that it is over priced.

A good lens hood is essential and the M.Zuiko 45mm lens really should have come with one. The hood probably costs $1 to make and is overpriced for what it is (a small piece of plastic), the cost of packaging and distribution is what drives up the price and there is no excuse for not including it with the lens. Other than the cost, I can find no fault with the lens hood. It does a good job of preventing stray light from hitting the lens, and it snaps on easily and securely. Be aware that there is a protective / decorative ring on the lens that must be removed by rotating it counter-clockwire before the hood can be attached.

Well made and fits securely. Lens is so small it seems to demand this extra protection from bumps. Don't plan to take it off. It does not interfere with filter or lens cap access.

Always have a lens shade on my lenses and this one provides exceptional protection from extraneous light rays. Goes on easily with a single twist. Light weight too.

A hood is essential. This one is designed for the camera. It fits firm and leaves me totally confident.
