Questions & Answers

Shopper : can you pivot from the middle to make an L-shape?ACCOUNTS P : Yes, you can pivot the stands to make an L shape or a V shape. However there will not be continuity from one stand to the other with threading the backdrop the whole length of both stands. In this configuration the middle section would be unstable to hold a large backdrop.PHILIP M : No you can’t. It’s a straight pole with a center supportMICHAEL S : You cannot do that in the middle because the middle pole sets in a hole that is not on an end pole and each section staps in place to form one long pole.FLOYD W : You can not make an L shape with this system. The cross bars only connect in a straight line.
Shopper : How does this unit hold 140" Seamless paper?GREGORY R : I haven't used it yet but only plane to use it as a stage backdrop which will require fire rated fabric.DAVID S : I have not used the stand for large paper such as yours, but I have used it to support 10 x 20 ft muslin horizontally or two different 10 x 20 drops side by side. For the horizontal, in order to avoid sagging and the subsequent wrinkles, I did use the center support and clamped the backdrop to the top-bar (gently around the center stud...). I expect that your paper is on a cardboard core which should prevent any sagging issues. The stands are certainly strong enough to support this. Overall, the stand has worked well for me. I normally only need two supports, but it is nice to have the option to immediately expand for larger groups when needed. One thing I added were labels to the end and center sections of the cross-bar. This makes it much faster and easier to set-up. The included cases have worked well for me (two stands in one, one stand and cross-bar in the other (larger in order to support the longer cross-bar sections). I hope this helps, David S.SCOTT B : It couldn't hold a seamless 140" simply because you need the center stanchion(for support). That leaves 9ft between the end stanchions, another words you can place (2) 108" (9ft)sections of paper and perhaps a small section in the middle to cover the center pole.JENNIFER O : Never used it with paper. I use it with Muslin. In my opinion, it would work well for paper too.GRAHAM W : I have 140" wide paper but have not put it on this stand. I have the paper on a wall mounted roller. The 140" x 35yds paper roll that I have is very heavy and I would be concerned about what would happen if the stand tipped overJAROSLAV J : It is holding very well. It is steady. No problem to use it with 140" seamless paper. I would recomende it.
Shopper : what are the max. and min. widths ?TODD T : This setup utilizes a multi sectional cross bar. There are 3 special parts that each contain a hole to set onto the top each stand. With this in mind, you would need a minimum of two of these sections to mount on the top of the stands. I think each section is about 40" in length. Three sections and 2 stands give a 10' width. I have not officially measured it but I believe the maximum with is 30' and the minimum could possibly be 6.5 feet?DAVID S : I'm happy to help, if I can. In answer to the specific question, the two end-pieces provide a minimum spread between the mounting holes of just over 6.5 ft. If you needed something less, I'm sure you could jury-rig something to use only one section and have a spread of a little over three ft. And yes, you can get a full 30 ft. spread at the other end of the spectrum. Overall, I have been very happy with the system. The three support stands are broad and sturdy, and set up very easily. The cross-bar sections are each about 40 inches and, like the stands, assemble quickly and easily. The two cases make transporting the system very convenient. The one item I would like to have seen is a more rigid cross-bar. When using more of the sections, the bar sags a bit more that I prefer. Use of the third stand corrects this, but then you have to deal with a middle stand (can be a bit awkward, depending on your backdrop). But, as stated above, I am happy with the system. It continues to meet my needs in a variety of situations. DaveNANCY S : This is the best. I photograph dance teams and am able to pose the entire team on the background with their boxes and props. I use two backgrounds, one for the back and one for the floor. It opens to 30 feet wide and I use a 24 ft wide background. It is sturdy with the enegetic dancers bumping into it. I love it. I also have used it with a 10 x 20 background without the center support for small families or individuals. It is the best all around background stand.RON H : The minimum you can use is 10' and the max is 30', you can also build anything in between in 3' increments. I typically use it for 20' backdrops with a green screen.

Good quality and value

Had another set on back order with Adorama for almost 3 months that was more expensive with only 2 stands. I finally gave up and did some more shopping. Glad I did! This kit has 3 stands and I’m happy with the quality. They are heavier but that’s probably a good thing. They won’t knock over as easy

Brand New testing

Seems good and strong enough. I do not like the locking they use seem too weak, time will tell.

Good background stand overall for the hobbyist.

This complete set is a fantastic background system for the beginner and hobbyist. It is not the sturdiest with only two stands but you can make due if you put weight bags at the base of the stands for more support. The bags are minimal however it does the job well. One quick note is that they are not padded so if you decide to sling them around you shoulders, be careful; you will get a nice bruise on your back. The height adjustable clips are cheap plastic and the metal frames are very lightweight. I put 3 sets of muslim backgrounds with metal clamps from home depot and they held well. Again its best to start with these and work your way up to a more professional set. Price wise its a little overkill, should be around ($)

Bent Out of Shape

Good product concept, but flaws in tubing and bad paint job have left this buyer Bent Out of Shape. The design is everything we wanted for holding up the backdrop for our theater production without a lot of engineering, HOWEVER there were problems with the product as received, three of the crossbar sections were bent, dimpled or compressed at the critical zone where the bars join, making them useless. The dimple was fixed by just drilling it out, but the bent end and the compressed end are useless. This takes away six feet out of the thirty that should be available for what is advertised as a "new" product. The black paint was scratched off in several places on crossbar pieces and tripods, so either the paint job was lousy or they weren't new. If the damage happened during shipping, the company shot itself in the foot by failing to pad the product properly, if they're passing used goods as new, they're liars, if the paint fell off when the rods were packed in the duffles, the quality bites. I like the spring loaded tri-pods as it makes the thing self-leveling when you put a heavier drop on it. I appreciate the duffle bags that keep the equipment together, but having to fix "new" equipment leaves me Bent Out of Shape!

Awesome set!

I am a professional sports photographer . I was having trouble finding a set up that I could go 20 feet wide. This does that, and then some with the extra bars it has. Works great, and haven't had any issues.
