Great Nikon product!. I use this on a D850. I was concerned that it would be too big and somehow obstruct my back monitor. I definitely fits just right with no obstruction at all. It makes a HUGE difference when looking through the lens as the soft QUALITY rubber immediately blocks out any unwanted light or distraction. It is not a cheap knock off which is generally very "plasticy"- it's the real Nikon quality that you should expect for a serious camera like a D850.

this is one of those small but, to me, very important elements in my photography. I love the fact that Nikon thinks all these things through and provides all the small nuances that make photography fun and a pleasure. Not to mention the great images?.thank you Adorama for making this easy to find. ??

This may seem like a simple accessory for your Nikon viewfinder but it's not...it really enhances your ability to clearly focus your attention on the subject...after trying 3 aftermarket eyecups that kept falling off...this one from Nikon, fits and stays on...a great addition to the camera!

This is a superb accessory for Nikon professional level cameras. It protects the eye piece of your camera when storing. It also restricts additional light from entering the eye as well as distractions. It is a great item that has legacy use for appropriate cameras.

Keeps the sun glare or any in wanted light from coming into the view finder area. The suction type looking eyepiece conforms to your eye on face

Better than the one that came with my d850, but it tends to collapse back on the camera when you put your eye up to theeye Cup. Had a hood eye that I liked better but didn’t know if it was going to fit on the magnifying eyepiece I bought.

Very helpful for blocking stary light, useful with glasses wearers. Folds back when camera is in bag.

The cup securily attaches to the camera body. However, in early morning sunshine it does not block out the light well. I wear eyeglasses so that the primary concern to put more distance between the view port and my specs.

The DK-19 eyecup is an accessory you would think is somewhat superfluous. I mean honestly, it is an eyecup right? The difference is that by putting it on the camera body, you are able to make sure that no stray light comes in to the eyepiece while you are focusing. Of course, if you are on a tripod then you need to either activate the eye shield ( on pro bodies with the lever) or on consumer bodies attach the viewfinder seal....which, by the way, is a total pain. I find that the DK-19 makes it easy to put my eye/face in direct contact with the camera body, and thereby reduce shake. it is a no brainer...buy it.

I wanted to try this eye-cup to help block out the sunlight from leaking in while taking outdoor pictures. I found with the default eyepiece enough light would come into view that at certain angles I had a hard time seeing my information in the viewfinder. This eye-cup blocked out all light and gives me a clear unobstructed view of my information and subject. A nice feature is that the cup will collapse for against the body for storage. * One thing to note is that you have to remove the old rubber eye-piece AND the plastic screw ring to install correctly. Mine took a gentle twist with small pliers to loosen. Be sure to close the eyepiece shutter to unlock the viewfinder eyepiece. Once correctly installed, it will not fall off or become loose under normal use and storage.

A great help in getting a clear view through your eyepiece. Keeps external light out of your eye.

I bought two of these, one for my D800 and another for my D500. They fit securely and do what they are designed to do. Like a rubber binocular eyecup, they fold back out of my way when I choose, such as when I slip the body into a camera bag slot.

Flips inside out far too easily. I’m always pulling it back out again. It’s a PITA.

Works great on D500 Nikon. Pretty easy to install and doing what it is meant to do. Cover your eye and keep out back light.

The cup is way too soft. It just collapses onto itself and as soon as you lift your eye away it is "gone". Next time you bring your eye to the cup it is flattened and serves no purpose. The original hard surface does the same job. Useless

Much better design than the square viewfinder cups like on the D750. Pops out or folds flat so it doesn't catch on anything or when putting the camera in the bag.

It is compatible with a D700 too
By I N.
It doesn't say it here but this eyepiece does work on a D700. I wrote Nikon's tech support about it and they said they would post the information, they never did. It's easy to install and I have had no problems with it. If you have a D700 and were wondering if this will work on it, it does, buy it.
Very useful
By Cadence
Yes, this works with my D700. It's indispensable. It shield your eye from stray light from becoming a distraction. And lets you focus on photography. The down side is that the viewfinder glass is more prone to fogging up.
