Kathy S : Can I take this in my carryon on an airplane.? I can not tell it TSA will let me bring it or not... thank you
Shopper : What is the weight?CHARLES F : It weighs less than 3/4 lb.RICHARD G : My unit weighs 10 oz. You could put lead shot in it to get more weight. The unit has a velcro closure that hides the bag of plastic balls.BEN G : My Pod Green weighs 289g, however, if you are trying to reduce your travel weight, you could remove the beans and carry only the bag which weighs only 44g. At your destination, you could refill the bag with beans or rice found locally.LINDA S : Pod weighs about a pound. Heavy for so small an item. I suppose if you have a long lens on the end of your camera, the counterbalance weight is a good thing. I was looking for a stablizing platform to plunk on a jeep window while on an African safari. This didn't do it for me.MAUREEN H : The Green Pod weighs 10.7 ounces.ROBERT L : It's 10.5 oz, or a little over 1/2 LB.AUDREY S : The Green Pod is 10 ounces.

I just seems to fill a need.JOHN C C : I have used it for years and, after losing it yesterday, found that I can't do without it. The design is simple and the package is lightweight and durable.Barry C : When I visit cathedrals and palaces in Europe, tripods and flashes are not allowed. So I must use a slow shutter speed, which means camera stability. I got tired of rolling up my jacket or hat to stabilize my camera. This is a lightweight, portable approach.jeffrey k : I have been looking for a bean bag and the reviews of the green pod were excellent and the price from Adorama was very good.

Great for wildlife.

These are great for wildlife photography. I highly recommend keeping one handy. I have used one many times, when a tripod is unavailable, or a tripod won?t fit in certain situations. I can open a window, set my camera on the widow ledge, and click away at a black bear in our woods!

good for small cameras

in my experience it is useful for smaller cameras, not for full frame with large lens. It is relatively small and lightweight, which is good for travel

I Digs the Pod

So, I was watching a Jason Vong video the other day? Those are the fateful words my wallet heard before buying this product and writing a review. The Pod is something else. I am able to get angles unseen with this thing. Sure, may be great for food photography, but it?s also choice for low profile angles and unique areas like bookshelves and whatnot. It?s secure, it?s compact, and it can support almost any body/lens setup. Sold!

Oh well, I learned some stuff at a low cost

This is hard to attach to the camera's tripod mount and is so far off the center of gravity with a neutral lens, it is unusable. It can be used if not attached to the camera like any bean bag, but it doesn't conform well enough to varied surfaces. Don't get me started about the strap around the lens, as that interferes with adjusting focal length.

Nice tripod substitute for travel

Excellent solution when tripod is not permitted or you don't have one. I use this under my Canon 5D Mark IV in cathedrals, museums, and other architecture. Works great on a wall or fence. It is lightweight and easily packed. The hardest part is leveling it, so take your time and use the camera's internal level. Much easier than rolling up a jacket!

Nice "ground" camera mount

Have not actually used it in the field yet, but "played" with it here at home. Seems like it will do what I want, sometimes a tripod is too high and still need to "mount" the camera on something to take the photo, this fits the bill. I have only tried it with my 24-70 lens, and balances nicely.

I like the way it looks, but it is intended as a gift, so I'll let you know how well it serves my friend's needs.

Handy replacement for tripod in the field

Used this while hiking so could leave the tripod behind. It supports the Nikon D750 w/ 70-200 lens well on uneven surfaces and rocks. The strap might interfere with small zoom lens, but the strap adds stability to keep the camera in place. Probably wont use on ledges or narrow edges where the camera can tip and fall.

Didn't know I needed it until I had it

Great alternative to a tripod in many circumstances. I just went up to Niagara the other day, and it's perfect for sitting on the stone railing supports for longer nighttime exposures of the falls. A carabiner (not included) lets me clip it onto my camera bag. It would be nice if it had a quick release for the camera, but that doesn't stop it from being a great addition to my daily gear.

Very handy gadget

I would like to get away from carrying a heavy tripod, so bought two different monopods. They more or less worked, but were still inconvenient. So I bought one of those sacks filled with beans or Styrofoam balls. Darned thing weighed a lot and was still a PITA. Guess it was designed for use with a car. But for a super long lens, it might be more appropriate. So to get to this "pod", here is my Goldilocks review.Tri and mono were too hard. Sack was too soft. The pod is just right. Lightweight. Supports camera (though think it would be stressed to work if you are using long heavy lenses). Does fine with my D-810 using 28-70, 180, 70-200 f/4. It's unobtrusive, easy to load and carry. And it does not add much weight to an already overweight backpack. Try it!

Using it way more than I thought!

I caught this on a flash deal and figured what the hell. I got it and realize that I'm whipping this thing out way more than I thought I would. It's a great way to stabilize your camera on awkward objects. My only complaints are that sometimes it can be tough to find the threading between this and the bottom of the camera. Also, when it's fully tightened, the pod is off center, making it somewhat ineffective. I have to screw it all the way on, unscrew it an 1/8th of a turn and then it's all good.

For it's size

Well with the snow storm that went thru I hadn't gotten around to using pod, so I attached it to my 800 lens and went out and shot some pics of my tree. First let me say I wanted a bigger pod, but this does work, the stud went into my lens foot ok and my pic's look nice and clear, the lens didn't bounce around. So I am happy with this unit but I would of liked it a little bigger. But for the price, it was nice!

Works Great!

This is perfect for times when I am shooting alone and cannot carry a tripod. I have a 400mm lens, and this works great to keep that steady when I need to have a stable surface for the camera.

No more hats or shirts, this is perfect when you don,t have your tripod with you. No more propping your camera up with jackets, hats, or shirts.

Easy to Use

This is an easy to use bean bag type mount for my camera. It attaches securely and enables me to steady my long lenses. It is also easy to use the camera for low to the ground shooting.

Cool concept and works reasonably well

Attaches easily to the bottom of my camera and balances well on surfaces that aren't flat (even on a chair!). It's a little large for my Fuji X-E2, so I think it's more geared towards larger non-mirrorless cameras. I wish it was Arca-Swiss compatible but that may be asking for too much!

Highly useful

This product is so well thought out when it comes to a point where carrying a tripod or similar device to mount your camera with zoom lens is impractical. I used the POD recently on a trip to California’s Redwood Forest and then on to Yosemite National Forest with family members and the sheer ease of using this product for myself and the rest of the group being photographed together, made such photos possible. Thanks Adorama for selling me these items. I bought two of them and are extremely happy with them. I use both Pentax K1ii and the K3 cameras and love them both.

Treat yourself to The Green Pod!!

The Green Pod is a perfect accessory for anyone that does not like a tripod. I have two for use with two favorite cameras! I use it everyday with my cameras. I don't always attach to cameras but have it within arms reach. I use it daily and constantly because it is easy and easily transported on or off camera. Have used similar products and nothing else compares (like filling others with beans, etc)!!!!!!

Just what I needed

I often find myself in places where a tripod either is not allowed or cumbersome to carry. The POD easily fits in my pack and does not take long to set up. Does a good job of keeping the camera steady for 2 - 5 second exposures. If your camera does not have a tilting screen then you may find it difficult to compose shots when it is ground level. I would recommend.

Great bean bag support

I love this little guy. He fits in my pocket and is perfect for those artistic shots I want to do on the ground but need just a little bit of height to accomplish. I use this bean bag in a variety of configurations to get the shots I want but have not tried to attach my camera to it. I mainly use it to stabilize shots.
