I have contacted your awesome customer service department regarding this wonderful mould. Having used the RCBS Hodgdon 416 grain Minie mould for years, I was used to it throwing an exact 416 hrain bullet. So I assumed that this mould would throw a bullet close to 500 grains. It does not. Try as I might, it throws a 540 grain bullet. As discussed with customer service, I will try the bullets and see how they shoot. The mould works well. We shall see.
RCBS 1-Cavity .58-500-M Bullet Molds are machined from solid cast iron blocks to exacting specifications to ensure accurate, clean, repeatable castings cast after cast. The blocks are precision ground square prior to machining and steel alignment pins are used to ensure perfect mating of mold blocks even after years of heavy use. All RCBS mold blocks feature a 3/16" thick sold steel sprue plate held tightly in place with tempered steel spring washers and screws. Mold handles not included and must be purchased separately.
