The RCBS Rotary Case Trim Pilot (.17 Caliber) is designed with a slight taper to guide the pilot into the case mount. This prevents the case from wobbling when trimming to the appropriate length.

I have made my own pilots in the past when needing them for the Trim Pro, but since I was ordering other items from RCBS, and the price is so reasonable, I opted to buy the 50 cal pilot from RCBS - I can't make it for the cost from RCBS !!

The size #34 fits perfectly for 9mm. I am not sure why they recommend the pilot #35 for 9mm. It simply cannot fit a case after sizing. 
However, #34 covers this gap, after 9mm case sizing, it perfectly aligns within the case trimmer.

Helping to set my youngest son up with reloading the 7.62x54R,he overlooked being able to trim cases before being able to reload.
Ordered pilot and trim pro shell holder , unfortunately while in FedEx possession the label was destroyed and package is being held. After some correspondence with RCBS Customer Service,they reshipped the complete order which arrived in short order.
In my experience they have the best service in the industry.

I have been using the trim pro for about 8 years and works find for me. Needed to trim 6.5 CM and I had no # 26 pilot, I don't know if one came with the kit, if so could not find it. Ordered and received in about ten days. It was a little pricie to ship, more that the part. But the main thing I am up and running again and works great.
