With the new global shutter, RED Global Vision, and a suite of other powerful features, the Red Digital Cinema V-RAPTOR (X) 8K VV DSMC3 Cinema Camera is a powerful workhorse for professional filmmakers.
By exposing the entire sensor at once, a global shutter allows creators to shoot the scenes they want with no compromise or post-production needed to remove the “jello effect.” Alone, the new global shutter would be an amazing upgrade, but Red has also introduced a suite of tools to simplify and enhance the production process: Red Global Vision.
Red Global Vision combined with the global shutter in the Red Digital Cinema V-RAPTOR (X) 8K VV DSMC3 Cinema Camera adds the flexibility of reaching into the highlights for more detail via Extended Highlights. This allows for more detail in High Dynamic Range (HDR) or can be turned off for a more subtle highlight roll-off when finishing with Standard Dynamic Range (SDR). In addition, RED Global Vision features Phantom Track, which helps streamline those virtual production environments using GhostFrame TM or Frame Mapping. Since individual R3D clips are captured per sub-frame slice, they can be monitored live on set via SDI.
The Red Digital Cinema V-RAPTOR (X) 8K VV DSMC3 Cinema Camera is designed to support large productions with a large array of I/O and power options. These include 4k and HD SDI monitoring, discreet LUT management, and power outputs that are placed intuitively. For those who want to include time-lapse, speed ramping, or pull ultra-sharp stills, shooting up to 120FPS at 8K is a powerful feature. With all-new audio hardware, users with external microphones will have cleaner sound when recording in a camera. Electronic ND filters ranging from 2 to 7 stops in 1/4, 1/3, or full stop increments allow shooters to easily work in changing environments and gain more creative control of scenes.
