 NTG2 Multi-Powered Shotgun Microphone   The Rode NTG2 is a lightweight condenser shotgun microphone, designed for professional applications within the film, video, television and production industries. Its full frequency response, low noise and audio transparency make it an ideal film, video, and voice over microphone, while its low weight (5.7 oz/161g without battery) makes it an ideal boom microphone.  In addition to the native 20Hz-20kHz frequency response a selectable high-pass filter at 80Hz is available, which will prevent low end noise such as air conditioners and traffic from being recorded.  The NTG2 operates either from a AA (1.5V) battery or P48 phantom power which can be supplied by professional cameras, audio recorders and power supplies. The battery power option makes the NTG2 ideal for scenarios where the camera does not supply phantom power such as DSLR video.  The WSVM windshield is supplied to minimize light wind noise and plosives during recording. The optional 'DeadCat' furry (available separately) is recommended for outdoor applications.  The Rode NTG2 shotgun microphone is designed and made in Australia, and covered by Rode's industry leading 10 year warranty.

Happy with the Rode NTG2 Shotgun Mic and have already tested it both indoor and outdoor and I'm so impressed with the results. Great sound! And the fact that I can use an AA battery for the phantom power gives it a versatility I can't get with many other mics.

Best Shotgun Microphone for the Money

Works really well and a great price.   Yeah there are many shotguns out there but this one does a pretty good job .    sound is clear ,  only has been tested when used a boom.

Great Mic

This stuff is all pretty new to me. This semester I’m learning about sound so I decided to give this product a shot. Honestly its really great quality and the bundle has everything you need; at least for a beginner like me. I recommend it if you don’t know much about microphones and need equipment; I think it was a great deal. Also is very true to the pictures.

Great for video purposes

Have worked with several other shotgun microphones and the Rode NTG 2 had exceptional clarity.  I have the microphone mounted on an E-Image boom and a Rode Transmitter. For dramatic and mild action scenes it delivered excellent quality audio and separation from unwanted frequency hum.

Perfect Production Microphone

NTG-2 is well known for being a quality mic at a great price. This kit is a good way to go with included boom pole and deadcat.

Good quality mic package

I paired this microphone with my C100 for a wedding recently. Even though it was in the back of the church, I was able to pick up the officiant, along with ambient crowd noises. I also use this when I make my short films at home. I chose this mic over the others because I love the Røde brand and it's quality. Also, I couldn't afford the NTG-3. For the price, you can't beat the audio and build quality!

Very impressed

Terrific combo perfect for basic outdoor shotgun work on docs/shorts/indie features. 
My only complaint is that its a little bit 'plastic'. 
But as long as its being transported carefully it performs as it should. 
- would be great if Rode made a canvas bag for it

Excellent basic shotgun kit

Great mic.  Price is a little steep, but this mic is great for indoor and outdoor use.  With a dead cat it is pretty much noise free outdoors.

I gave it a three star "Meh" rating because the kit did not contain a short XLR cord to attach mic to the camera, just a 20" monster you can't drag around easily.  It comes with a camera mount, so why no cord?

Incomplete in my humble opinion

I like this for dialog when I am filming a movie. I use it mainly with a Rode Boom pole. Good sound, well made and very directional. I like that I can use it with phantom power or batteries.

if you need a boom and there is humming in the room...call in, sweeps out unwanted sound like a broom

I shot a video, used this shotgun mic right over our heads, didn't really pick up that much sound.
