Doesn't fit Mic well / joint doesn't tighten

For a relatively expensive shock mount, this is very difficult to use. First of all, the bands are not tight enough to hold the weight of the mic after a few minutes of use (in my case an NTG-2, which it says it is made for). There are also seems to be no way to tighten the joint, which can come loose during use. It seems to be an easy piece of gear to make, I'm not sure how they messed it up!
