Good mic, super easy to use, durable and light.
Love this mic. The quality has been good enough for my projects, its way better than the built-in mic on my 5D mii. Its small (enough) and lightweight, so I always keep it in a side pocket in my camera bag for when I need it. It takes like 10 seconds to install and turn on. Works as advertised!
I like this mic through limited use. It's very lightweight but seems durable. Sound quality is good. The option to tweak for really loud scenarios is great, I mostly shoot live bands.

At the core of the VideoMic Pro is an innovative 1/2" condenser capsule that delivers broadcast-quality audio through a 3.5mm minijack connector, outputting the mono signal to both left and right channels. This advanced technology ensures an impressively low self-noise of just 14db, contributing to the microphone's high-quality sound output.
The VideoMic Pro features a supercardioid polar pattern, expertly designed to minimize surrounding audio and focus your recording on the subject in front of the camera. This makes it an ideal choice for on-camera use, where directional sound capture is crucial.
The microphone is equipped with an integrated Rycote Lyre-based shock mounting system. This innovative design isolates the VideoMic Pro capsule and electronics from its mount, effectively eliminating unwanted rumble and vibrations caused by external physical factors. The Lyre, constructed from a single piece of durable thermoplastic, offers superior acoustic suspension compared to traditional elastic solutions, ensuring longevity and consistent performance.
On the rear face of the microphone, you'll find easily accessible power, filter, and level controls. The microphone's native 40Hz-20kHz response is complemented by a selectable high-pass filter at 80Hz, designed to prevent low-end noise such as air conditioners and traffic from being recorded. The level settings include a -10dB level attenuation (or PAD), perfect for recording loud sound sources, and a +20dB level boost, specifically designed for use with DSLR cameras to reduce noise generated by the camera's audio circuitry.
The VideoMic Pro uses a standard-sized shoe mount for on-camera use and features a 3/8" thread in the base of the mount for easy boom pole mounting. The microphone is battery-powered, providing over 70 hours of recording from a single 9V battery.
