I would have given this 5 stars if it weren't for the cold shoe, I was hoping for something that would allow side by side mounting of accessories  this only works for front to back so one accessory sits in front of the other. Had I known this I would not have purchased this kit.

good microphone, good wind sock, useless cold shoe

The small thumbnail photo on the website make it look like a VideoMic Kit instead of a VideoMic Go kit, I made the purchase based on the photo and the search results when I typed VideoMic Kit.

Misleading Kit Photo

The sound improvement over the built-in mic is noticeable. The sound quality is good. The windscreen is only useful in extremely windy conditions outdoors. Indoors, it makes little difference. Construction is good if a bit plastic-y. Though described as directional, I noticed a lot of noise coming in from the sides. Necessary to fix in post-production.

Decent sound

My grandson's high school camera club has this mic and as his birthday was approaching, we gave this as his birthday gift to complete his camera set. He was so thrilled to receive  this quality gift.
