A solid box for protecting my iPad mini. It was a little complicated to figure out, but we followed the instructions and got it installed. It's pretty solid and seems like it will protect the iPad.

The box was opened. Seal was broken and heavy case doesn't clip on properly! Very bad experience for the first time with otterbox. Instructions weren't clear. Never got delivered status as well.

Pencil door fell off I don't even use it. This leaves the iPad unprotected and dust gets in. Long time otterbox customer but this case is junk. Mad it is going to cost me shipping for an inferior product.

I'm not sure which one you are asking about. I bought 2 for this iPad with the first one, the cover for the Apple Pencil broke off before I got the tablet installed. It went in the trash. I replaced it with another cover. At the same time I bought a case for my granddaughters Mini. It seems to work well and is very protective. Unfortunate it does not have provisions for the pencil. It works fine for her, but would be useless for me.

Complete crap. Broke once warranty replacement sent. Broke again and now they want me to send the case in so I don't have a case on my expensive iPad in order to get another. No thanks. I'll spend my money elsewhere and buy a case without a defect. Both times the pencil door broke off. Crap design. Avoid.

Not the same quality I'm used to from Otterbox. The side where the Apple pen fits breaks very easily, and leaves the whole right side of the iPad exposed.

Just got the case and door for pencil is loose and pops out. Back rubber piece does not fit back of the ipad smoothly. Maybe I got a bad one, but quality seems very poor.

Primary purpose of the case is drop protection, seems like the case will do that well. I like the thought of the anti-microbial feature, but can't really evaluate it. We're using it with an Amplify Glass anti-microbial screen protector; they fit together well. Not using a Pencil2 (yet), but the case's flip-out door giving access to the tablet's mag attachment side, a long thin piece of plastic, does seem like a point of future weakness. Not an issue if you're not using the Pencil2, I think. The TPU flexible layer of the case assembly is the outer layer. Other Otterbox cases we're using have the rigid layer shell as the outside layer, with the TPU held to the inside. Maybe the reversal is an artifact of accommodating this tablet's design / layout? But, those reviewers who have noted that the outer flexible layer sags or pulls away in the Pencil2 charging area are on to something. I tried to get out ahead of future sags, snags, and tears by adding double-stick tape between case layers, but the tape didn't adhere well to the case materials. There may be a future warranty call. The top cover -- I used to use Seidio cases, while they were still available. Generally, I liked their little stand pieces in their tablet top covers (and my iPhone 6 kickstand case), so many useful positions to choose from, and easy to use. This Otterbox stand, for me, either holds the tablet up to near-vertical, too tall and near the edge of stability; or the cover stand lays the tablet near horizontal, too flat. There's no happy just-right intermediate position.

I got my 6th generation iPad mini in 2022 and immediately bought this case. A week later, the flimsy pencil case portion actually broke and your company replaced the whole thing. Now, not quite a year later, that same side (pencil case side) has a cracked screen. I'm so disappointed in the design of this that I won't buy another. I feel I should either get my money back or at least be reimbursed for the 49.00Apple care fee.

The stylus holder is cheap and breaks after a while. Mine lasted a year. Otherwise the case is fine. The screen protector is not part of the case for some reason on this model. Previous cases it was built in. On this version its either sold separately or you order as part of the kit.

To be honest, the case fits great. But it's the pencil door that kills this product. It's flimsy. What you're holding it with your right hand it literally creaks and pops from the cheap plastic door on the side. It annoyed me so bad I threw it in the trash.

Ok I planning on updating my iPhone se 2020 and my ipad mini 4 and my apple watch se but I will be honest with you I been using otterboxes on my ipod 3 and my mini 1 and my first apple cell phone But the Alpha glass is becoming a deal braker for me my sister and dad have it all kind of dirt dust gets stuck behind it I already started looking for alternatives that have built in screen protector until you start putting built in screen protection back in your product I not sure I wanna stay a long time customer

The defender for the iPad mini 6 simply misses the mark. The pencil compartment cause the case structure to suffer and not be as solid as previous iPad defender cases. Also the using the shield as a landscape stand simply doesn't work. Barely touching the screen causes the iPad mini 6 to slip from its perch. OtterBox needs to ditch the pencil compartment and redesign this case to mimic the defender for the iPad mini 2. This case will probably get returned.

Usually these cases are bullet proof but the outer slip case is saggy and doesn't fit correctly and the Mac pen slot leaves the iPad unprotected at that side. The outer frame flap was lost in the first week and the frame section where the pen goes broke in less than 3 months.

But overall the case is not great. I travel quite a bit and use this for in flight movies, etc?. Unfortunately, the angles allowed for viewing movies are flawed. When in the landscape position , the iPad is basically balancing and any little bump or turbulence and iPad falls off. You can't touch the iPad in that position or it falls over. There are small notches that seem like they could possibly secure the iPad but they don't do much. Seems like it was an afterthought. Otter box has been my go to forever. Unfortunately I gotta bring this one back.

The new Otterbox case design is horrible. Due to the open end for the Apple pencil, the case is flimsy and does not protect the device form moisture or debris like the original cases did. The outside rubber covering does not fit flush with the plastic/device. I have always used Otterbox cases for my previous IPADS and they were fantastic at keeping my device fully protected, clean, and dry. The "door" on the pencil holder area will not stay on and even when closed, it's loose and does not protect my device. Very disappointed that there is not an option for an IPAD mini 6 case without the Apple pencil holder.This new case design is a joke and I will not be using their products anymore.

Been an Otterbox customer for years. Have them on all the Apple products we own. This case missed the mark and I saw several other reviews with the same issue. Ordered two of them for the kids' new iPads and they both have the same issue. The back casing does not stay flush and has a small pocket of air because the lip doesn't stay secure under the plastic piece that holds the stylus. Very disappointed in the quality as Otterbox has always been our go-to. Kept them because the hassle of sending them back wasn't worth it, but making sure the kids are extra careful, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Will do the job, but should work better for the price. Doesn't stand up well at all when using the lid to prop it up and keeps falling over. The locking tab on the side of the device rattles around and doesn't seem very secure. If I didn't trust the case to protect my new iPad Mini from getting squished in my bag (based on previous Otter cases on other iPads, including an older Mini, I probably would have returned it.

I bought this a few weeks ago to update the case I was using for my iPad. It was time to have some change and I wanted a case that would last through lots of bumps, falls, and sticky fingers (I have kids and they tend to use my iPad). I have to say, this case has done an amazing job. I feel like it is not too bulky of a case. It provides great protection while still looking nice and it is very easy to clean!

After dropping and cracking 2 of my iPad minis I learned I must protect it with an OtterBox Case! I never had a problem again because the cases protect my iPad. They are high quality, durable, extremely protective, and functional. There are a few more steps to put it on than other cases, but so much more worth it!
