The Snap Distance Priority mode is a unique feature of the GR IIIx Urban Edition. The camera automatically selects the aperture, providing the depth of field used in pan-focus photography, making it an ideal tool for spontaneous snapshot photography.
The Auto Area AF (Center) focus mode is another innovative feature. Instead of covering the entire image field, this mode operates only in nine focus zones around the center of the image field. This prevents the camera from focusing on unintended elements, such as a grassy field in the foreground of an image, ensuring that the focus remains on the subject.
Additional new functions include the Enable AF mode, which has been added to the shutter-button settings. This allows the user to lock the AF system only, without locking the AE system, by pressing the shutter-release button halfway down. The Snapshot mode now includes a distance setting of 11.5 feet (3.5 meters), and a long press on the monitor during playback instantly recalls the playback function selection menu.
The GR IIIx Urban Edition also features an exclusive shutdown screen. When the camera's power is turned off, the screen displays an original shut-down image featuring the product logo and a streetview image, symbolizing the urban-oriented concept of this camera.
