Huge flaw of this lens is that Rokinon stubbornly refuses to fix a gigantic bug, easy to address but they don't care, after getting nagged for years. This lens will not communicate the focal length over to your camera, even though it's an AF/active-mount lens. So for SteadyShot to work, and for EXIF data to populate correctly (for loading lens profiles, etc.), you have to spend wasteful/priceless minutes potentially missing your shot, digging into the menus to manually set it, and then (remember to) switch back to automatic when you swap out the lens.

The lens has been working perfectly along side my Sony a7iv. I use it 90% of the time and creates amazing pictures at a very affordable price. Would recommend over 1st party Lens and use the extra money towards a flash, tripod or another lens.

Exceptional Len super sharp and beautiful bokeh. Mine would hunt for focus occasionally but that?s been addressed with a firmware update ( I just haven?t done it yet). But Adorama has a great price and super fast shipping pick one up, you won?t regret it.

I love the metal construction yet it being lightweight. The AF is fast and quiet and the 14mm only has slight vignetting and barrel distortion. The center is sharp wide open; stopping down to f/4 resolves these issues. I have it paired with my EOS R5 on a DJI RS2. The weight is so clutch during a wedding?I go with the R5 and this 14mm. Using 4K crop mode (5.1K oversampled), I get a 22.4mm FOV, no overheating (23.98 and 29.97fps), and no backache from doing gimbal work for 10 hours. My only ?gripe? is that I wish it were faster (f/1.8 or even f/2.0 would?ve been nice).

I shopped around and researched for months for a wide angle full frame lens. I love astrophotography and haven't been able to fully dive into it without a wide angle lens. I decided on this one because it was within my budget, had great reviews, and could deliver what I was trying to achieve. I've had it for about a month or so now, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It's quiet, fast, and very sharp. The first night I went out after getting this lens, I was literally SQUEALING with happiness because I couldn't believe what this lens was allowing me to do!! Love the sharpness, color and ability to take in the whole landscape. quick autofocus, fantastic in low light. I used focus peaking for manual focus of Milkyway. Was a great first night out with it. I would highly recommend.

I own quite a few Samyang/Rokinon lenses at this point, and I've been consistently impressed with each and every single one. The autofocus on this is snappy, immediately tracking onto the eye. Not quite as quiet as the 1.8/35, but that's okay. Samyang has absolutely nailed their lens designs and coatings. Bokeh on any 1.4/85 is going to be special, and this lens is no exception. A very affordable lens for what it is. Surprisingly light, weather sealed and excellent image quality.

If you're looking at getting into serious portraiture, I highly recommend this lens. Its minimum focus distance leaves a lot to be desired, but it's not enough of a drawback for me. All lenses have to make compromises somewhere, and I still adore this lens. Autofocus is quick and accurate. No complaints, here.

Love this lens! I had the MF version forever and I'm very glad there's an AF available now. It can be a little slow to focus during movement photos (even with increased shutter speed), but that's my only feedback. Aside from that it's a high quality lens that offers stunning results.

I have owned about four 85mm lenses over the years including a Carl Zeiss 85mm f/4 which was a joy to carry around due to its tiny size as well as the Sony Carl Zeiss 85mm f1.4 with Sony A mount. This Rokinon 85mm has sharpness that equals the CZ 85mm f4 (made to be used with Leica rangefinders). The price of the CZ is about the same as the Rokinon however the CZ was manual focus and the Rokinon has autofocus. This Rokinon is sharp centrally at f/1.4, a little soft in the corners. By f/2.8 it is truly sharp everywhere you look. For portraits the slight softness in the corners is of no significance. I find little to no chromatic aberration in this lens. Besides being sturdily built one of the features that really stands out is the light weight of this lens compared to the competitors. It is bulky in volume but no more so than others. Lastly I find the autofocus is quite fast and quiet. I do not shoot cinema so I cant comment whether the focus is quiet enough for a camera mounted microphone. For the money this is the second best value lens I have ever purchased. The number one is a Rokinon 35mm f2.8. That lens is made of plastic and weighs 3 ounces. It is VERY inexpensive. The sharpness of that tiny 35mm Rokinon lens falls just a bit short of my Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art lens and weighs about one-sixth of the Sigma. Bottom line, if you want a great 85mm lens and not just a great inexpensive 85mm lens then you should strongly consider this Rokinon.

I had read so many reviews for this lens that were extremely favorable and for an 85mm f1.4 the price is so good you can't go wrong. I did a test for sharpness at the center at aperture f1.4. I compared it to a Sony Carl Zeiss 85mm f1.4 for Sony A mount that I purchased about 8 years ago for about $1,600. There was no competition, the Rokinon blew away that Sony Carl Zeiss lens. The corner sharpness is good at f1.4 but outstanding when you get to f2.8. The autofocus is fast and quiet and accurate. When I do my tests for sharpness I take a picture of the books in a bookcase. I also have my business card taped onto the shelves at a distance of 10 feet. That business card is tack sharp in the center at f1.4. I have since sold the Sony CZ lens!! I am a professional fine art photographer.
