Getting it all

I have had this lens for almost a year and I do love it, enjoy using it in the redwood forest. Helped a friend of taking photos of her home she was trying to sell. Able to take a whole house and room in one shot. Unique photos and fun.

looking for things to shoot

I am enjoying this lens very much... Took some time at first to get the lens on, because the dots don't line up like a regular lens, was afraid I was doing it wrong. I am enjoying the ability that I can get the whole picture in like a room a building the top of all the Redwood trees. It is different but fun and I do like the results. The part I am sorry to say that I cannot get is bringing things in closer, but then it isn't made for that... I am happy that I got the lens.

The Wide-Angle GH4 Speed Booster

Purchased the Nikon mount lens to serve as a dual purpose 8mm T3.8 and 5.7mm F2.8. The lens is relatively sharp at T3.8 and increases sharpness up till around F4.5 to F5. Perhaps the better way of describing the sharpness is to say that there is potential light-bleed on the image up till about 4.5 or 5.0. After 4.5 or 5.0 you're on your way to a nice contrast/sharp image. It's important to note that distortion is present, but also quite manageable. If you frame your shot with the majority of subject content on lens' horizon, you'll find wonderful results with tons of details to gaze upon. Utilizing the 8mm Nikon mount without a SpeedBooster helps decrease distortion making the lens a solid choice for 2.0 or greater crop sensors. "The Wide-Angle GH4 Speed Booster..." It's surprising how well this lens performs shooting 4k video! Trying to capture an action sequence? Want to use a 2.35 aspect ratio on a 2.3 crop sensor? This lens is a speed booster for establishing a scene. An 8mm isn't the sharpest lens in the kit. However, the viewing angle combined with the relatively slow video shutter speeds, at 1/48th of a second, and you'll find yourself creating powerful images in a area where most crop sensors seem so uninspiring. The Nikon mount is very loose. There is almost 1 mm of play when locked onto Nikon to M4/3 adapters. I will certainly find a way to make the lens more solid; however, it's possible that the lens will lose the ability to focus to infinity when placing spacers between a lens and it's native mount. Then again, it's an 8mm lens. The lens I purchase was free of defects. Everything is smooth. There is no internal dust and there are no scratches on the lens.

About Rokinon 8mm T3.8 Cine for Nikon

The Rokinon 8mm t/3.8 Fisheye Cine VDSLR Lens for Nikon is a great lens for shooting video with your DSLR camera. It is designed to shoot with APS-C image sensors, for which it provides full frame coverage, creating an expanded perspective that covers the entire frame. For DSLR's with a full frame sensor, this lens will produce pictures with a semi-circular image and close-ups will appear proportionately large for a dramatic effect.

Its de-clicked aperture range runs from t/3.8 to t/22, providing a smooth, silent, jump-free transition when shooting video and its multi-layered, anti-reflective UMC coated lenses allow for clean light transmission and razor sharp images. Toothed focusing and aperture rings and bright, white numbering make controlling your image all the easier.
