From the professional studios to the broadcast suites, the ADI-648 stands as an advanced 64-channel 24-bit/96kHz MADI/ADAT format converter, embodying sophistication and reliability for audio professionals. The ADI-648 bridges the gap between the world's most prevalent multi-channel interface, MADI, and the high-end exclusive ADAT format, ensuring seamless integration in professional audio environments.
The converter boasts a comprehensive 16x16 routing matrix, enabling unparalleled flexibility in signal routing. Users can effortlessly route any 8-channel input block to multiple 8-channel output blocks, facilitating complex setups such as signal splitting and routing within the same format. This feature alone makes the ADI-648 a superior choice for those seeking intricate audio configurations.
RME's ADI-648 is designed to handle high-density audio with ease, supporting 64 channels of pristine 24-bit audio at up to 48 kHz sample rates, and 32 channels at up to 96 kHz. Long-distance transmission is simplified through a single line, either coaxial (BNC) or fiber optic, with cable lengths exceeding 100 meters, making it an ideal solution for managing extensive setups.
The device's versatility extends to its compatibility with various sample rates, including Double Speed operations. It can distribute 96 kHz signals in Double Wire mode into the MADI data stream or via Sample Split (S/MUX) to the ADAT ports. Additionally, the ADI-648 can handle double MADI rates (96k Frame), serving as an optimal MADI front-end for RME's Hammerfall and Hammerfall DSP series.
RME's proprietary technologies, SyncAlign and SyncCheck, ensure perfect synchronization across all channels and provide immediate error state notifications. For enhanced reliability, the unit can be cascaded with multiple devices, synchronized accurately using word clock.
The ADI-648 is not only a powerful format converter but also a comprehensive digital patchbay and router. It can serve as an ADAT breakout box for MADI interfaces, connect MADI-based equipment, and even merge multiple MADI signals into one.
The rear panel of the ADI-648 is intuitively designed, featuring eight ADAT optical inputs and outputs, dual MADI I/O (coaxial and optical), word clock I/O with switchable termination, and two MIDI jacks, ensuring broad compatibility and flexibility.
RME's SteadyClock technology, a digitally controlled clock designed for MADI operation, negates the need for an additional word or AES clock line, extracting the reference clock directly from the MADI signal with utmost precision.
Remote control capabilities are extensive, with complete MIDI control over the unit. The ADI-648 can be assigned its own ID for differentiated control of multiple devices via a single MIDI channel. RME offers a free downloadable Windows software MIDI Remote, which provides a virtual front-panel operation and an extended matrix display, further enhancing the user experience.
In summary, the ADI-648 is a sophisticated, high-quality, and reliable solution for professional audio applications, offering advanced features and compatibility with industry-standard MADI and ADAT formats. It is the go-to choice for audio professionals who demand flexibility, quality, and reliability in their audio signal conversion and routing.
