The filter is constructed using a tri-extrusion process, which seals the colored layer between two microscopically thin layers of clear film. This innovative design minimizes dye migration, thereby extending the filter's effective life.

Known as "Supergel" in international markets, Roscolux is the most widely used filter range globally. It is made from two types of plastic, with over 65% of the line crafted from co-extruded polycarbonate plastic, while the remaining is deep dyed polyester.

Unlike ordinary color filters, which are made by surface coating clear polyester plastic film, Roscolux filters are not merely painted on the surface. This unique manufacturing process makes them resistant to heat and physical abrasion, reducing the risk of dye removal, fading, and scratching.
