The Roscolux filter's durability is due to its unique manufacturing process. It features a tri-extrusion process that combines three discrete layers. The colored layer is sealed between two microscopically thin layers of clear film, minimizing dye migration and extending the filter's effective life.

Known as "Supergel" in international markets, Roscolux is the most widely used filter range globally. It's constructed from two types of plastic, with over 65% of the line made from co-extruded polycarbonate plastic and the rest from deep dyed polyester.

Unlike ordinary color filters, which are made by surface coating clear polyester plastic film, Roscolux's color is not merely painted onto the surface. This design prevents the dye from being easily removed by heat and physical abrasion, thus reducing fading and scratching.
