Like Gipetto,I purchased this set in the summer of 08 after reading his review but I skipped right over the fact that he complained about the lack of color gel attachments or barn doors.. Are there any suitable answers for this problem? The price is right and it works well so far although I have'nt subjected it to heavy use yet..Some weddings and events coming up..will write soon ..

I've only owned my RPS kit for three weeks and had to travel out of town with just time enough to open and inspect [...].I intend to use this product for candid style portraits, table shots and product photos etc.First impression, nice kit-pro look, great price but shoukd be handled with care- especially with removing power cords from units when packing up(ie.hold connector while gently wiggling power cord out of unit)I'll write in six months

this is a decent set. it is powerful and color accurate. the attachment hardware seems flimsy, but seeming and being are two different things (i'll let you know in a few years) the set packs into a small, efficient case. if you are not banging these around all day, every day, i would say "get this set"

This is an excellent setup for the person that wants a quality studio light set up for a good price. It's a good choice for portraits of individuals or small groups. It won't light up a stadium or an arena, but that's not it's intended purpose. The included infrared trigger is a nice feature of the system.

The RPS Studio Portable Monolite Kit features three 160 watt/second (w/s) monolites for a total power output of 480 w/s that are adjustable from full downto 1/8th power. Each monolight has a built-in modeling light that "tracks" the power setting of the flash tube so that the photographer can see the changes in light ratio as he sets up his shot. The modeling lights can also be turned off if the photographer wishes. The ready indicator for when the monolights have fully recycled is both audible and visual. If desired, the audible indicator canbe turned off. Additionally, the SB-160 Monolites have a built-in slave cell that allows them to be flashed with the another flash unit or the wireless transmitter included in this kit. This transmitter attaches to the camera's hot shoe and allows firing the monolights without the need for PC cords between the camera and the flash heads. This keeps the studio free of a lot of messy cords. The wireless trigger runs on 4 AA batteries and will not harm the sensitive circuitry of digital cameras. If desired, 3.5mm to pc cords do come with the kit if the photographer wishes to use a pc connection. Of course, each monolight has a testbutton.
