Phenomenal stability while still not too heavy to hike with.  Look at the specs, the 3-series legs are not much heavier than the 2-series.  In fact, it’s the same difference between the fixed apex and versa.  In my mind, if it’s worth spending about $1k on a tripod, it’s worth getting the most stability you can.
