This adapter might have worked for me if it was about another inch longer in the round area, and/or about a 1/4 inch longer on the flat area. But nobody makes a adapter like this - at least that I could find. So I tried this one. This adapter is plastic, not metal. Wanted to mount a light weight Rode VideoMic Pro Plus on my Canon XA35. Chose this adapter to try to make this work. However, the dimension of the adapter and the Rode Mic will not fit onto the Canon XA35 pro, if you use any other accessories, which I do frequently, as I shoot event videos. 1. All Canon have an uncommon size for their mic holders. The adapter - 25 mm is too big, the 22 mm is too small. So I use 22 mm and foam padding to hold the adapter. 2. Using the adapter and putting the mic in front of the mic holder, it prevented me from attaching a small LED light to the front of the camera, either in the hot shoe or on an extension bar. They physically touched each other, and I don't want mic noise from my LED lamp rubbing the microphone. 3. Flipping the adapter 180 degrees in the mic holder, putting the mic behind the camera mic clamp and the mic facing forward, the mic, adapter, and mic cord holder on the Rode mic all interfered with making this work. You could not get a solid clamp of the mic to the adapter and the mic camera clamp, as their was not enough room for this to work. 4. Using a bar extension in the hot shoe, with the microphone in either in front of or behind the mic clamp, I could not attach my wireless mics, as they were touching the mic in all positions. So... I reverted back to a Rode shotgun NTG2 for my most recent shoot, and returned the Rode VideoPro Plus Mic. I would return the adapter, but the shipping costs are prohibitive.
