David B : I received this unit as a gift about eight months ago. The person who gifted me this recorder and I, had a "falling out" shortly thereafter re. personal issues. She said at the time, that she didn't find the instructions usually placed in the box that contained the recorder. Now I can't find her! And I still don't know how to use it correctly. Can you help? S : Dave, If you don't have the CD that came with it, google "RCA VR5340 2GB Digital Voice Recorder" and select the hit that has rcaaudiovideo in it. There you will be able to download a 24 page manual. Also download The Digital Voice Manager 2.0 software and install it on your laptop or PC/Mac. Always use the Manager for playback & editing. I also used my Koss headphones during playback. Since the recorder continues to use some battery power when it is off, never store the recorder without removing the AAA batteries. I used this recorder a lot while traveling during cold weather and it is very useful & safer than pen on paper for making notes while driving a commercial truck.(The DOT requires this record keeping!) Always use the best alkaline or lithium batteries as this unit will detect low battery voltage and shut down during use.
