Octagonal Collapsible Beauty Dish

I purchased this collapsible dish to have a transportable off camera unit for location shoots. I'm using it with a Nikon SB-910 flash. PROs - This unit combination produces very nice directional lighting, is easily softened with the provided white cover and is not overly heavy. The unit collapses nicely and fits into the travel bag that comes with the unit. CONs - There is a bit of a learning curve to become comfortable with the set up process. Having 16 spines each requiring alignment and proper insertion take a bit of patience. Also the tension system is works well but it requires specific movements and considerable force to manipulate into & out of position. Repetition "practice" of the setup makes it easier. OVERALL - For portability, weight, & included accessories I'm very pleased with the purchase. I would recommend this unit to others that do location portraits.

The Savage ModMaster Collapsible Beauty Dish combines an impressive amount of light modification options with the convenience of easy storage, transportation and collapsibility. The 16 ribs create an almost perfectly round beauty dish when the included metal deflector dish is used. Remove the dish and hook & loop in the soft white internal diffuser to create a soft, diffused look on your subject's face while maintaining higher contrast around the edges. Use the external baffle to convert your beauty dish into a round softbox. For a more directional light source, a grid is also included.
