About Spitfire Audio Igneous Library

Centred around a sophisticated virtual instrument recorded at 3 dynamic layers and 3 bowing positions with a host of "artisan" articulations and many additional techniques, Spitfire believe they have encapsulated the very soul that is the searing talent of Electric Cellist, Peter Gregson. With a whole host of experimental techniques pumped through the most extraordinary signal paths, they feel the 7 month adventure that is Igenous is the perfect introduction into the inspiring, fiery and searing world of the electrified cello.

Background
Gregson is a cellist and composer "working at the forefront of the new music scene" (The New Yorker) Recently, he has premiered works by composers including Tod Machover, Daniel Bjarnason, Joby Talbot, Gabriel Prokofiev, Max Richter, Johann Jooohannsson, Steve Reich, Martin Suckling, Milton Mermikides, Howard Goodall, John Metcalfe, Scott Walker and Sally Beamish; he also collaborates with many of the world's leading technologists, including Microsoft Labs, United Visual Artists, Rectify and the MIT Media Lab. He also fits into the Spitfire ethos of being a technologist at the front line of media composition by having recently completed scoring his first feature film, 'A Little Chaos', directed by Alan Rickman and starring Kate Winslet, Helen McCrory, Matthias Schoenaerts and Stanley Tucci.

Function
Adopting techniques they learned and perfected with the hugely successful "Andy Findon - Kit Bag" and the idea of making a concept album without making any of the music. Just the building blocks, the DNA with Leo's "Enigma". And their first venture with the inventive smouldering and youthful chaps at Pixel Studios, who have created some truly inspiring signal paths for you to play with, Spitfire are proud to present one of the most extraordinary projects they've embarked on to-date.

GUIS

The Overview Panel
Gives you a quick and easy way to access, view and load the different articulations, mic mixes and essential controller functions which you can then re-assign to suit your workflow.

General Controls Panel
A deeper but still simple UI panel that allows you to tweak the general settings. How many round robins you would like and how you would like them to behave. How would you like memory to be organized alongside pitch options and how velocity works.

The Ostinatum
Quite simply a little inspiration machine. Not quite an arpegiattor, not quite a sequencer. This intuitive device allows you to build up complex patterns that react to your playing to achieve wild systems results tantalising Zimmeresque tension beds or cheeky multi-tonguing effects!
