Decent stand, better than many others I've had but I've only used it once so far. It did come black and not chrome like the picture shows. A little confused as to why.

While it is a great stand, I wish I'd gotten one like the one I just bought instead of this one. It's performed well enough to make me happy, but the dampening system they use creates a black powder that escapes from it, and gets on everything around and under it, if left in one spot very long. Sadly, I didn't realize it did this until after it coated the other three light stands in the carrying case I use. I now will have to clean the case, and put this stand in a bag to protect the rest of my things. If not for this problem, I'd give it a four star rating for how it works.

These are a huge step above the cheap. flimsy stands you see everywhere. They are solidly built, stronger, and more stable, and extend to a whopping 10 feet. Despite this, they are still very light, though not quite as small and light to pack as the cheap ones. The 1/4"-20 thread is very handy -- I try to always get stands with that option now. For a few bucks more, these stands are VERY much worth it. The only caveat I should mention is that they are silver in color. For some purposes you may need black stands to avoid light reflections.

Have had 5 of these and they tend to dent when anything hits it.

Great to use when you need something fast to setup. I easily carry this with me in a case because it is so lightweight.

It's a great stand for indoor speedlight use, but I wouldn't trust any of my heavy monolights on it, especially with a big softbox. You can put a speedlight and a fairly large umbrella (60") on it and raise it up to ten feet when shooting indoors, but make sure to bring a sand bag or two if you want to do the same outside. I wouldn't trust it above 6-7 feet with a heavy monolight and a big octabox on it though. It folds up small and is lightweight, so it's great if you need to carry a few of them for a long distance. Compared to a similar stand at an identical price (the interfit 8.5ft AC stand) it is not quite as sturdy. The risers on the interfit are thicker, meaning your light will sway less in the wind when using a big umbrella or softbox. The interfit has a slightly larger base, and is a bit heavier. The air cushioning on the savage is excellent though. It's easily the best I've seen on any sub-$60 light stand.

I use this light stand to hold my reflector; to add a hair light or side light. The air cushion is a nice safety feature. The price is right.

Sturdy enough for most medium duty application

Overall it seems reasonably well made for the price point of [$]. It is a light duty stand for light duty work. Good for speed lights and umbrellas, quick to move around and set up. That said and while not ideal, you might get away with using it for a little heavier work for awhile. As always a weight bag is a good idea.I have two of these, that I got recently, so it will be awhile before I know how well they hold up in the long run.

Great for the low price. Air dampening works well. Seems durable enough. Sturdy with a small monolight up to about 7', starts to lean after that, but I'd trust it to hold a reasonable load without self destructing at that height. I'd use weight bags to stabilize for higher extension applications.

It's cheap, it's probably good for indoor use where there will be no wind blowing around. For outdoor use, a heavy sand bag is a must, or it will get blown down by wind with nothing hooked on it because it's base tubes are just a bit too short to have a firm grip on the ground.

I use this light stand with a Vivitar 285HV or Canon 430EX flash and an umbrella. I first bought a 7 or 8 foot stand that is not air cushioned and like this one 10' air cushioned one much better. If needed I drop the hight down with one hand while keeping the other on the camera. I will most likely buy one or two more next time I upgrade.

serious bang for buck here! I love the air-pressured feature, keeps my equipment safe.. only gripe is the knobs are plastic.. but it's really not a big deal, unless you're doing on location on a daily basis. it's a great product at an amazing price!

When folded up, this lightstand is a bit bigger than your standard lightstand, but that 10 foot height is just awesome to have! I find them more than adequate for what I do, and would recommend them to my friends.

These stands are light, but sturdy. My only one complaint, and it's a small one, is that the legs can be hard to unfold. Maybe this is because the stands are still new, but I have yet to get the hang of them. Other than that, these are a great value for the money.

I gave this 3 stars because it was much lighter than I expected...but the price is about right for what you are getting. I wouldn't trust it too far in moderate wind unless it was really sand-bagged down. It has fluid movemnt and dampans the fall if you have a piece of equipment on it and forget and unloosen the scew all at once. Not bad for the bucks.
