The MK10 is a nice little stand. Mostly use a 'boom' with a wireless mic placed over sitting interview subjects. It does its job.

I purchased a pair of the Samson MKII stands over a decade ago and they always held up to whatever I needed them for. Two years back I decided to order a few more as I was getting into recording. The design hadn?t changed and those were just as sturdy as the previous ones. Last months I ordered 12 more. These stands haven?t let me down. They?re not quite tall enough for drumset overheads and they?re on the lighter side so for heavier mics you?ll want to get some sandbags. For what they are, these are an incredible value and won?t fall apart like the cheap On Stage stands. If you need mic stands on a budget, these are the only option as far as I care.

Very sturdy and flexible for the price. Solid metal legs, main pole and boom. Easy to extend and adjust. Cable clip is ridiculously hard to pry open. Definitely not as stable as a more expensive stand might be but it is great for what you pay.

great budget mic stands for studio use

The base is light which makes mic rod to tilt and imbalance the stand. At the same time it is good for the money.

These are absolutely the BEST mic stands in the budget range. 8 years ago I purchased a set or 2 Samson MK-10 stands. I used them weekly on gigs and for my own recordings at home. They’ve held up well, despite being shuffled around and thrown in corners. When I needed to purchase more, I had a hard time remembering what stands they were since the label had since fallen off. I figured it out and found that Adorama had a really great deal at $17 each so I bought 8 more. For the price, these can really not be beat.

Not super y’all, but it’s sturdy and it gets the Job done. I use it for a boom mic while shooting sitting at my desk.

The Mic stand is quality and sturdy! Great product for the price. The only thing is with the bundle I purchased the Mic clip attachment is too small to fit the wireless Mic. However should be an easy fix ??

No clear description that this boom stand is basically half the height of a normal boom stand. Effective height max is under 6ft. Does not work if the subject is standing.

I purchased these because of how small they are for transporting. We use them for singing while standing and they work great. They also both fold down and pack away in the bag we already carry two speaker stands in. They do a great job for this use and make carrying in the equipment much easier. Because the boom arm is used to give it the overall height, it wouldn't work in some instances where taller stands with a boom on top will, but they are perfect for us.

Great for light weight dynamic stage mics. It is light weight and easy to set up as well as really small when packed up. It does have a hard time holding heavy condenser studio mics like an NT1. I am 6' and it is not tall enough to turn the condenser mic upside down. The boom isn't very long either. Great light weight stage mic for performers not a studio boom stand.

4 stars rating is mainly due to the extremely low price Adorama was selling this item for at the time. For that price, as long as the stand holds up the mic, you've gotten a pretty good deal.Beyond considerations of cost, unit works fine, is perfectly serviceable and, thus far, has adequately stood up to light use. It's obviously not a high-end stand (I didn't expect it to be), so I will treat it carefully when using. An example of this is the cable clip that sits on the boom clutch. It's made of a rigid plastic that is so inflexible so as to be almost useless. I was able to manhandle a mic cable into this clip, but it took considerable effort.

Bought this for playing on stage to have more room between my guitar and the mic stand. Absolutely love it! The quality is better than any stand I've owned, and looks nice as well.

The Samson MK10 is a decent build quality, but should not be advertised as a normal boom mic stand. It's much lower, therefore cannot be used for overhead drum mics, etc. I'm keeping the four I purchased, as I can use them for toms, guitar amps, etc. The boom weight at the end is also for appearance only... it's simply a plastic cap. If you're not too tall, and don't need a full-height stand, the MK10 should serve you well.

The MK-10 should be advertised as a miniature or half-size stand. Base of stand will still pivot when snapped tight. I will keep these stands, as I can use them for toms, etc., but these are much lower height than a standard stand, and will barely work for someone much over 6 ft. tall. Adorama did a great job shipping fast, however.

I just replaced some 30 year old mic stands with these - it cut the weight in half with no drop in quality. These are very nice mic stands for the price and a real back saver when you're hauling enough for a full big band.

This is the best compact and lightweight boom stand I've ever come across. The latches and thumb screws all feel secure and snug to operate, without feeling like they'll wear out immediately. The stand doesn't extend needlessly high, and trades overall total height (that I never utilise) for a smaller compact form. Perfect. SM58s and e935s don't knock it over with conservative, normal boom angles. More horizontal boom angles will DEFINITELY send your mic crashing to the floor. Just a trade off for the lightweight goodness.

I've been playing Gospel music and traveling with Gospel groups since 1978, so I've seen my share of mic stands. These Samson stands are the most compact I've ever seen, yet even when fully extended, they're very sturdy. I tried the MK10 with a Bluebird and then with a Baby Bottle mic (HEAVY mics) with a stand mounted pop filter and had no problems with it tipping over with the tripod legs positioned correctly. You have to really tighten the boom arm clamp to hold such heavy mics, though.

I've read some reviews about this being to short... Well I'm 5' 10" and this thing can easily reach another foot above my head. That being said I don't believe that it would work well for overhead mics and also not for heavy condensers (pencil / small diaphragm no problem). Actually this work be a perfect stand for micing acoustic instruments! My wife and I will use these primarily for vocals. I can't attest to their longevity yet, but they certainly seem to be well made. Blessings!
